Somi Releases 'Khuluma' Featuring Msaki

GRAMMY-nominated vocalist Somi unveils “Khuluma” featuring Msaki. The track comes from the East African singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album. The fifth studio record from Somi honors the late South African singer-songwriter and civil rights activist Miriam Makeba; and its March 4 release date marks what would have been Makeba’s 90th birthday.

SOMI to Release New Album ZENZILE: THE REIMAGINATION OF MIRIAM MAKEBA

On March 4, 2022, Grammy-nominated vocalist, and songwriter Somi will release her new album, Zenzile: The Reimagination Of Miriam Makeba, a celebration of the late Makeba’s invaluable musical contributions and messages of social justice. The album, which will be released on the artist’s Salon Africana label, features Somi’s renditions of some of Makeba’s best-known songs—both Makeba’s own compositions and covers.

Repertory Theatre Of St. Louis Postpones THE 39 STEPS & HOUSE OF JOY

After consulting with medical professionals and in response to the rising infection rates in their area, The Repertory Theatre Of St. Louis has decided to shift the programming in their 21-22 season. Their production of The 39 Steps, originally scheduled to begin January 21, will be postponed until March 18-April 10.

TNC Presents New Yiddish Rep In DI FROYEN" (THE WOMEN) This January

From January 22-30, Theater for the New City will present the New Yiddish Rep's production of 'Di Froyen' (The Women), based on the play 'Women's Minyan' by Naomi Ragen, adapted for the Yiddish Rep by Melissa Weisz and Malky Goldman. Director is Rachel Botchan.  The play is a one-act drama of an abused Orthodox Jewish wife who is being kept from her children.

2021 Steinberg Playwright Awards Recipients Announced

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust today announced the names of the 10 outstanding early-to-mid-career playwrights who will be celebrated with 2021 Steinberg Playwright Awards in the amount of $10,000 each.
