BWW Review: STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Theatre Three

Port Jefferson’s Theatre Three has cracked open their hairspray cans, turned on their radios, and opened up an absolutely fabulous production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias running now through May 7.

BWW Review: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES at Theatre Three

Port Jefferson’s Theatre Three indeed has a hit with their current offering The Marvelous Wonderettes. Running through March 26th, the adorable production is superbly directed by Long Island theatre vet Linda May. This show hasn’t been on Broadway, per se, but it did have two off-Broadway runs in 2008 and 2016 well as inspiring several spin-offs. There have been many local productions of this show and it’s easy to understand why: it is a fun, nostalgic show.

BWW Review: CHARLES DICKENS' A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Theatre Three

The show is wonderful to begin with; there is no doubt about that. Theatre Three's 37th annual production of the iconic Charles Dickens tale A Christmas Carol has certainly become a beautiful tradition on Long Island. Even with slight changes throughout the years, this ageless production is as spectacular as ever. Jeffrey Sanzel, the Artistic Director of the Port Jefferson venue celebrating its 51st season, directs the dazzling play running through December 26th.

BWW Review: NINA SIMONE: FOUR WOMEN at Berkshire Theatre Group Provides an Eye Opening, Powerful, Stirring, and Unique Theatrical Experience.

Director and Choreographer, Gerry McIntyre says, “At a time when people are feeling the need to do something in our hurting world but don’t know how to start, this production is an incredible reminder that you just need to take the first step. Or write the first note. Nina Simone: Four Women meditates on Nina Simone’s transition from a singer to an activist.'

BWW Review: THE FANTASTICKS at Theatre Three

It may seem a production of the classic musical The Fantasticks can be found anywhere. However, when you have a cast as wonderful as those in Theatre Three’s incarnation, masterfully directed by Artistic Director Jeffrey Sanzel, you must check it out again. Running through August 15th at the beautiful Port Jefferson venue, this is the world’s longest running musical.

BWW Review: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE at Playhouse On Park

It is an exciting feeling when you discover something new about something you were already familiar with. Sometimes this happens when you read a favorite book for a second time, or learn a bit of history behind a favorite spot. But sometimes, the planets align and fresh light shines on a classic story breathing new life into it and revealing something brilliant. This is the case with the latest production at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Kate Hamill, which takes the classic Jane Austen novel, turns it a bit on its ear, yet retains the core elements of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy's unlikely love that have stood the

BWW Review: Theatre Three's production of JOSEPH is “a walking work of art!”

On February 15, Port Jefferson's Theatre Three premiered their production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and it couldn't have opened at a better time. We are currently living in very trying times, and this production is the right remedy that will definitely get your spirits up.

BWW Review: DRIVING MISS DAISY at Theatre Three

Jam on the brakes and put the car in park! Long Island powerhouse Phyllis March is giving one of the best performances of her brilliant theatrical career in Theatre Three's splendid production of Alfred Uhry's 'Driving Miss Daisy.' Ms. March, along with her devoted driver Hoke, played by the suave Antoine Jones, take you on the ride of a lifetime exploring bold companionship, racial undertones, and the inevitable growing older in the 1988 Pulitzer Prize winning play.
