The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre is delighted to share the filmed production of 1984 with its patrons and supporters.

With the current theatre world on hiatus, I have created a Spotlight Series on Broadway World Los Angeles which features interviews with some of the many talented artists who make our Los Angeles theatre community so exciting and vibrant thanks to their ongoing contribution to keeping the arts alive in the City of the Angels. And like all of us, how are they dealing with the abrupt end of productions in which they were involved? This Spotlight focuses on Tanya Alexander, a spoken word artist and writer of poetry and music, who I recently reviewed in her leading role in HUMAN INTEREST STORY at the Fountain Theatre in Hollywood, in which she plays Jane Doe, an anonymous homeless woman plucked from a park bench and made a media celebrity.

Today, the Austin, TX-based country rock band Reckless Kelly released “Thinkin' Bout You All Night” from their upcoming album American Jackpot (out May 22 alongside their album American Girls). The song will be available everywhere tomorrow but you can hear it now on The Boot. The band will also be sharing a weekly acoustic show with Willy Braun starting this Sunday at 7pm CDT on the band's Facebook.

Influential Athens, GA math-rock quartet We Versus The Shark (mems. Double Ferrari, Bit Brigade, Sunwatchers, Man... Or Astroman?, Modern Nature) are excited to announce Goodbye Guitar, their first album since 2008 (due June 19 via Ernest Jenning Record Co.). To ring in the announcement, the group has shared new track 'Righteous Vibes' via NPR Music, who called Goodbye Guitar 'a lot more of a fist-pumping, wham-bam rock and roll record than expected.'

When all this is over, one of the enduring cultural moments of the coronavirus pandemic will be the memories of the music. Across the world, people have been turning to music for comfort and community. Clips have gone viral of Italians holding nightly singalongs from their balconies and Spaniards jamming out together from a distance. And here in America, the performing arts community has been coming together to produce all sorts of remote content. The most high-profile of these to date is the one-off 'revival' of The Rosie O'Donnell Show, which streamed live on Sunday, Mar. 22. It was a testament to the power of community (and the humor of technical problems).

One of Acorn TV's most universally adored series, Canadian dramedy SLINGS & ARROWS: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION returns to DVD on April 7, 2020 in a new collection. Called “outrageously entertaining” (NPR) and on Robert Lloyd's “list of best television shows ever,” this dark comedy follows the fortunes of a dysfunctional Shakespearean theatre troupe, exposing the high drama, scorching battles, and electrifying thrills that happen behind the scenes.

Just when gloom and doom seems to be coming at us from all angles, Desert Theatreworks presents one of the funniest, finest works they have ever staged. Following its laugh filled opening night, the company has put the show on hiatus per government guidelines, but it certainly must resume its run as soon as allowed.
