Acclaimed Welsh actor and producer Michael Sheen (The Twilight Saga, Frost/Nixon, The Queen, Tron: Legacy, Masters of Sex, Good Omens, Amadeus) will star as Salieri in a gripping new production of Peter Shaffer’s Tony and Academy Award®-winning masterpiece Amadeus at the Sydney Opera House from 27 December, 2022 – 21 January, 2023.

The production stars Micah JL Brooks as Brindsley Miller, Alli Franken as Carol Melkett, Jakie Cabe as Colonel Melkett, Hannah Bell as Miss Furnival, Micah Green as Harold Gorringe, Jenna Anderson as Clea, Andrew Nicolas as Schuppanzigh and Kelley Garland as Georg Bamberger.

Original Theatre Company today announces the all-star cast for the script-in-hand performances from the three shortlisted plays for the Originals Playwriting Award.

EastLine Theatre, in association with Westbury Arts, will present the world premiere of Being Earnest by Long Island queer playwright Danny Higgins this June. This new adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest will begin performances at the Westbury performance space in June. Algonquin Arts Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its winter production of Amadeus by Peter Shaffer. The play will run at Algonquin Arts Theatre from Saturday, February 26 through Sunday, March 6.

Charlie Eglinton has now released a concept album for a new one based on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s life. Peter Shaffer gave us an imaginary account of the lives of the Salzburgian composer in his play Amadeus, but Eglinton’s Saving Mozart is rooted in history and - as Shaffer did to an extent - uses Mozart’s music as the foundation for each song in the show.

Commissioned in response to current events, An Oresteia tells the ancient story of the fall of the house of Atreus beginning with the murder of Agamemnon and detailing its repercussions through the generations.

The National Theatre has partnered with the Sir Peter Shaffer Charitable Foundation in committing to supporting playwrights with an initial two-year collaboration. Celebrating the life and career of Sir Peter Shaffer, this partnership will continue his desire to support playwrights as they create larger scale plays.
