Tune Up Philly (TUP), the community engagement program of Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO), directed by Paul Smith, presents its opening concert of the season on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. The young musicians will pay homage to traditional dances and folk melodies in this program. Art and culture will be combined placing the students' talent on full display. The concert will take place at The Temple Performing Arts Center, located at 1837 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. The Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra is prepared to make their season debut on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Perelman Theater at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The concert, conducted by Maestra Rosalind Erwin, blends selections from the great orchestral repertoire including an epic selection from the Nutcracker Ballet, all performed by the gifted members of the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra.

Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center for Performing Arts will once again host the opening performance of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra on November 4, at 3 p.m. This first concert of the 2018-2019 season will be recorded for a later date to air on WRTI-FM. It will showcase the 130 members of the ensemble, between the ages of 14 to 21 and is conducted by the esteemed Maestro Louis Scaglione.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) has opened another year of opportunity for talented young composers to participate in the Third Annual Young Composers Competition for the 2018-2019 season. PYO is calling on gifted composers, between the ages of 18 to 24, to submit an original orchestral piece. The winner will receive the honor of having the composition performed by the highly esteemed Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and recorded for a possible future broadcast on WRTI.

Music teacher Shelley Beard Santore, of Lansdowne, PA, the Suzuki Academy Department Head and Master Faculty member at The Music School of Delaware, had many supporters in the audience when she was named as the grand prize winner in the Fifth Annual Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) Ovation Award in a surprise presentation. It took place in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 3 p.m. during the 78th Annual Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Festival Concert. The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's Ovation Award for Inspiration and Outstanding Leadership in Music Education has been honoring excellence in music instruction since its inaugural year in 2014.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's 2017-18 season has brought an exhilarating year of music education and performances to over 120 talented musicians, ages 14 to 21, marking the organization's 78th Anniversary. The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra 78th Annual Festival Concert will feature the World Premiere of Manhattan Nights by Kevin Day, who is the Second Annual Young Composers Competition Winner, A Salute to Leonard Bernstein with Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and Strauss' Ein Heldenleben, Op. 40. The concert will take place on Sunday, June 10, at 3 p.m., in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The physical album, on CD, will then be released into retail stores around the world from 25th May. The recording will also be made available on vinyl.

"The Sound & Spirit of St. James School" is the theme of this year's 4th Annual Dr. Audrey Evans Scholarship Benefit taking place on Monday, May 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Union League of Philadelphia, Broad and Sansom Streets. Two honorees will be recognized by St. James School that truly embody this theme: Maestro Louis Scaglione, President and Music Director of Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) and the Peoples of St. Peter's Church in The Great Valley, including Rev. Abigail Crozier-Nestlehutt, the Rector of the church.
Phila. Youth Orchestra Bravo Brass Ensemble Showcase Their Skills At 15th Annual Festival Concert

Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's Bravo Brass ensemble will proudly perform at their 15th Annual Festival Concert on Saturday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in the beautiful St. Mark's Church, 1625 Locust Street in Philadelphia, PA. Entitled Brass by Popular Demand, the program of music by John Williams, Mozart, Bernstein, Grieg, Gabrieli, Holst, and Wagner was selected based on responses to a public survey posted during the month of February. The concert will also feature three soloists-current Bravo Brass trumpeter Erik Larson, trombone alumnus Jason Stein, and Bravo Brass bass trombone faculty member and associate conductor Barry McCommon.
