This event is free and will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Temple Performing Arts Center (TPAC), located at 1837 North Broad Street, Philadelphia.

Phila. Young Artists Orchestra Performs 23rd Annual Festival Concert

On Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 3 p.m. the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra (PYAO) members, ages 12 to 18, will present its 23rd Annual Festival Concert. The concert will be held in the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 300 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia. Conducted by Maestra Rosalind Erwin, the concert will feature the winner of the Fourth Annual Young Artists Solo Competition winner, Lea Wang, violinist. Wang, who placed first in the competition out of more than a dozen applicants, will perform Pablo de Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen ("Gypsy Airs") and receive a $500 scholarship award from PYO. She resides in Holland in Bucks County, PA and is an 8th grade student at Holland Middle School.

Philadelphia Region Youth String Music Musicians to Perform in 11th Annual Concert

At the 11th Annual Festival Concert, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's PRYSM (Philadelphia Region Youth String Music) and PRYSM-YA (PRYSM Young Artists) ensembles will perform, demonstrating their outstanding musical talent. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. and will be held in Centennial Hall at the Haverford School, located at 750 Lancaster Avenue in Haverford, PA.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Winners Of National Young Composers Competition Announced

For the second year, The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) conducted a nationwide search to name the three winners in the PYO Young Composers Competition. There were 54 entries by composers ages 18 to 22 who submitted original orchestral scores. The winners were selected by PYO's music director, Maestro Louis Scaglione, and the director of the Young Composers Competition, Sheridan Seyfried, who is a Philadelphia-based composer, and a PYO alumnus as well as a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music where he studied with Richard Danielpour, Jennifer Higdon and Ned Rorem.

The students of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) organization continue to stand out for their talent.  All eight finalists, and the first place winner, of the 2018 School District of Philadelphia's All-City Concerto Competition are current PYO members. The School District of Philadelphia's All-City Music Program, consisting of a full symphonic orchestra, concert band, and choir, is audition based and includes the top performing student musicians within The School District of Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO), under the direction of Maestro Louis Scaglione, will perform its second concert of the season in Verizon Hall of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, February 25th, at 3 p.m., 300 S. Broad Street in Philadelphia. The orchestra, consisting of student musicians between the ages of 14 -21, will perform three substantial works from the professional symphonic repertoire:  Brahms' Third Symphony, Stravinsky's Petrushka and Ravel's La Valse.
