The Countess of Storyville, a new original American musical, will be performed at an invitation only developmental lab on October 22nd and 23rd at The Pearl Studios. Directed by Mark Waldrop,The Countess of Storyville, has music by Martin Silvestri, lyrics by Joel Higgins, book by R.M. Cohen and is choreographed by Denis Jones. The musicalis presented by The Pasadena Playhouse in association with Margot Astrachan and Michael Rubenstein.

The 65th Music Circus season continues with Peter Pan, a high-flying, magical journey to Neverland that critics call 'purely delightful...ageless...a wonderful tradition.' Glenn Casale's history with "Peter Pan" has been one awfully big adventure that's unlikely to end any time soon. The California Musical Theatre Artistic Director headed the Tony-nominated 1999 Broadway revival, which subsequently saw an A&E television broadcast and multiple tours. The show visited Sacramento as recent as 2012, and fans of that version will appreciate pieces of costumes and dance, and even a few cast members, pulled from Casale's Cathy Rigby version for the Music Circus production, now playing at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.

Music Circus opened its 2015 season Tuesday evening with Glenn Casale's enchanting production of the Lerner and Loewe classic "My Fair Lady." Casale's direction and Bob Richard's choreography scatter gems of endearing humor throughout. At three hours, the show drags at times, but the lengthy dialogue and excellent character development also find a forte in California Musical Theatre's production.

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre has confirmed casting for all six shows in the 65th Music Circus season. The stellar cast for the season is loaded with Broadway veterans, some of whom are making their Music Circus debuts, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus productions.

With the show's Broadway debut in 1951, followed by the 1956 Academy-Award-winning film adaption, Rodger's and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I has been captivating audiences for over 60 years. Yul Brenner, the most iconic and well-known of the actors who have played the King, not only starred in both stage and film incarnations of this classic musical, but he brought the show's national tour to the Music Hall at Fair Park in 1989, where the acclaimed musical is currently being revived by Dallas Summer Musicals. Though the current production's leader may lack Brenner's clout and charisma, this locally produced musical provides a high-quality, dazzling opportunity to celebrate and enjoy this timeless classic.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Dallas Summer Musicals' decision to cast a Caucasian actor as King Mongkut in their scheduled production has caused quite the controversy. Last week, The Asian American Performers Action Coalition (AAPAC) published an open letter to the theatre company in light of their choice to employ 'yellowface' - today, Dallas Summer Musicals has responded.

The five-time Tony Award-nominated Rock of Ages played its final performance last night, January 18, 2015 after 22 preview and 2,328 Broadway performances, solidifying its spot as the 27th longest running show in Broadway history. The current company was joined by past cast members onstage for the epic, final curtain call, and BroadwayWorld was there for the special celebration. BroadwayWorld has confirmed that original ROCK OF AGES Broadway cast member Mitchell Jarvis, who played Lonny when the show first opened, has rejoined the cast for its final weeks on the Great White Way as Stacee Jaxx. Jarvis succeeds YouTube star Chester See.
