 The Actors Studio will open its doors to the public to observe “Actors Studio In Process” on Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4 at 7PM.

Syracuse Stage Artistic Director Robert Hupp and Managing Director Jill Anderson announced the next production in their 2022/2023 season, and it’s one for the ages. Thornton Wilder’s cherished and frequently produced play, Our Town, runs Wednesday, March 29 through Sunday, April 16 at Syracuse Stage in the Archbold Theatre. Robert Hupp will direct the production.

Terence Blanchard’s opera Champion, based on the true story of the troubled former middleweight boxing champion Emile Griffith, will have its highly anticipated Metropolitan Opera premiere on April 10, with nine performances running through May 13.

In February, The Actors Studio will continue its 75th Anniversary celebration as the world’s most celebrated and influential membership association for professional actors, directors and playwrights.

Singer and Songwriter Robin Batteau brings his unique new project, Banned in Sparta, to the Passim stage on January 29th. Inspired by ancient Greek Lyric Poets like Sappho, Simonides, and Corinna from the 5th and 6th and 7th centuries BCE, Banned in Sparta, combines the incredible songwriting talents of Batteau with the iconic voices from New England's folk scene like Tom Rush, Carolyn Hester, Tom Paxton, Livingston Taylor, Kate Taylor, and Eric Andersen. Batteau elevates the myths and ancient struggles of the Greek tragedies into modern folk classics. Robin's sister Yani, who plays clawhammer style banjo, will open the show and join him onstage for a few songs. Tickets are on sale now at Passim.org. 

It's an exceptional addition to a Theatreland that's generally lacking in political engagement, especially during the Christmas period. It's intense, brainy, and absolutely delectable. The latest West End must-see.

On Sunday, December 4 at 2pm the Coolidge Corner Theatre will welcome Clea Newman, daughter of the legendary acting couple Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, for a special screening of The Hustler. Following the screening, Ms. Newman will participate in a Q&A moderated by film critic and journalist Loren King.
