Review: SHEWOLVES, Southwark Playhouse

Sarah Middleton’s Shewolves was quite the success at Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year, so it’s not a surprise it’s now made its way to London. Directed by Hannah Stone, it’s a high-energy production with a young soul. Gurjot Dhaliwal (Priya) and Harriet Waters (Lou) are a close-knit cast, effortlessly comedic as they spiral into unforeseen panic.

Review: THE SUSPICIONS OF MR WHICHER, The Watermill Theatre

The ever enchanting Watermill Theatre in Newbury could hardly have hoped for more atmospheric weather to mark the opening night of their latest show, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher. The distant thunderclaps and bucketing rain seemed perfectly placed to instill a disquieting mood as the audience arrived for an evening of Victorian true crime.

Review: VARDY V ROONEY: THE WAGATHA CHRISTIE TRIAL, The Ambassadors Theatre

Vardy V Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial brings a social media nightmare to a shocking and amusing reality. This adaptation of a well-known cultural phenomenon is an autopsy of the intricacies behind existence as a partner of one of England’s highest profile footballers.

Sir Derek Jacobi: High Ticket Prices Make Theatre 'Elitist'

Sir Derek Jacobi has criticised the cost of ticket prices for theatre, saying that their exorbitance is making it an “elitist” pursuit. Theatre, he argued, should be open to all and “part of our blood and bones” instead.

Barney Norris wrote his debut play Visitors when he was only twenty years-old. Following its 2014 premiere at the Arcola, it garnered critical acclaim and earned Norris a Critic’s Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright. Following a national tour and Off-West End run at the Bush, Norris returns almost a decade later in the director’s chair for Visitors’ first major revival at the Watermill Theatre.

Review: YOU BURY ME, Orange Tree Theatre

Whatever happened to the Arab Spring? Back in 2011, there seemed so much hope at a new future for some of the Arab world. As with so many optimistic uprisings, it was followed by crushed dreams and often despair. Egypt suffered from this and now lives under a military regime more oppressive than ever before.
