Washington, DC-based post-punk darkwave outfit Social Station has announced their new maxi-single 'Try (Cross My Heart)', a dark upbeat yet melancholic track that gets under your skin similar to how Siouxsie and The Banshees pulled that off with 'Spellbound'.

After a virtual silence of nearly 20 years, influential indie singer/songwriter Lida Husik will release her tenth solo album on Friday, June 8th - a date many assumed would never arrive. Entitled motheroceanmorning, the highly personal collection of original songs is stripped down and acoustic in nature, a notable departure from Husik's previous journeys into psychedelia, alternative rock, eclectic power pop, and electronica. The album's lead-off single is the sweetly melodic - yet unabashedly antagonistic - Do Me Right.

Swiss producer and indie-songstress Anna Aaron shares the music video for her fiery single, 'Why Not' (Radicalis Music). After previous successful singles 'Stellarling' and 'Linda', Anna Aaron initially gained notability by fellow Swiss jazz musician Sophie Hunger, prompting celebrated label Two Gentlemen Records (Fauve, The Young Gods, The Appleseed Cast) to take interest in the Basel-based artist and sign her right on the spot. Anna has since gained media attention from the likes of Clash Magazine, FGUK Mag, Nosey Germany, Sound Kartel, Le Canal Auditif, NBHAP, Les Inrocks, Spiegel Online just to name a few.

Set against a backdrop of sumptuously textured alt-pop, her debut LP “In Bloom” finds this rising artist wholly embodying whatever mood she's conjuring: love-struck, vengeful, heavy-hearted, triumphant, all the while maintaining a deliberate vulnerability and willful sensitivity that speaks to the quiet power in softness. 

National Sawdust+ will present "On the Frontlines" at National Sawdust, the Brooklyn based arts incubator, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. The one-night only event, curated for the series by Elena Park, brings Mariana Sadovska - the "Ukrainian Bjork" - and Emmy-nominated genre-bending composer, violinist, and arts leader Daniel Bernard Roumain together for an evening that examines war and resistance through the lens of performing arts, especially music. Both of these critically acclaimed composer-musicians will perform and discuss their work during this presentation.

Soccer Mommy - twenty-year old Nashville native Sophie Allison - will release her highly anticipated debut LP Clean next week, but starting today the album can be heard in its entirety courtesy of NPR First Listen. Clean is Allison's journey out of her bedroom and into the studio with a full band and an incredible record produced by Gabe Wax (War On Drugs, Deerhunter, Beirut) and mixed by Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, PJ Harvey). 'I'd never made a full album before, just EPs and random tracks thrown together. I wanted it to be a lot more cohesive than the rest of the stuff that came before,' explains Allison. The result is Clean, the cohesive album Allison dreamt of making, and a record that presents Soccer Mommy as a singular artist, wise beyond her years, with an emotional authenticity of her own. SOCCER MOMMY Releases New Song STILL CLEAN via Noisey

Basic Behaviour, FRIGS' debut, self-produced full-length, was written and recorded over a 16-month period, split between two locations: the band's home studio and Union Sound Company in the east end of Toronto. As much as the lyrical subject matter within the record reflects personal experiences of frontwoman Bria Salmena, the album is a product of years of self discovery as a unit. Recording at home allowed the band to take the time to explore their sound, experimenting with sonic textures and production, and meticulously re-working their material. These sessions proved to be invaluable in creating a sound unique to FRIGS. However, a degree of positive urgency was deemed necessary in order to finalize the process. Working with engineer Ian Gomes, FRIGS embraced the limitations of third-party studio time and completed the record with a sense of immediacy. The resulting contrast between these two approaches in recording creates an end product that is at once stark, chaotic, reflective, and manic, ultimately forming the core of Basic Behaviour's identity.

Gagglebabble, the company I run with Hannah McPake, has always been interested in mixing the buzz and excitement of a live gig with the storytelling and drama of theatre. With Sinners Club, we collaborated with co-producers The Other Room in Cardiff and Theatr Clwyd in Mold to push that gig-theatre form to its limits, trying to do away with a relentless focus on narrative and make the songs work on their own.
