Martin Sheen Joins Brandt's 'The Double'; Filming Starts Monday

The Hollywoord Reporter reports that Martin Sheen has recently been cast in the Hyde Park/Imagenation-produced 'The Double,' a spy thriller written and directed by Michael Brandt and starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace. Sheen is reported to play the CIA director. Filming will begin Monday in Detroit. Additional cast members include Stephen Moyer, Stana Katic, and Odette Yustman. The film was co-written by Derek Haas.

Logo, the entertainment network for gays, lesbians and their families and friends announced today that award-winning dancer/choreographer, dynamic performer, multi-platinum recording artist and popular entertainment personality, Paula Abdul will be honored with the Always Next, Forever Now Icon Award at the 2010 'NewNowNext Awards.' Given annually, this special award pays homage to a beloved pop icon. Paula is slated to accept her award in person at the 'NewNowNext Awards' taping at the Edison in Downtown Los Angeles on June 8th.

Emmy, Golden Globe and two time Academy Award winner Michael Douglas will be celebrated at the Film Society's 37th Annual Chaplin Award Gala on the evening of Monday May 24th at Alice Tully Hall. The limited ticket event will be attended by many of Douglas's most celebrated collaborators and friends, such as Danny Devito, Erika Christiansen, Milos Forman, Curtis Hanson, Tobey Maguire, Barbara Walters, as well as Douglas's wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and his father, the legendary Kirk Douglas, with a special performance by Michael's longtime-friend singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett, plus film clips commemorating Douglas's lauded career.
Oliver Stone Wants MEMPHIS Movie?

Last week the New York Post reported that Justin Timberlake was interested in making a movie of MEMPHIS and this week ... it's Oliver Stone. The paper states that Stone is a big fan of the show which he's seen twice already and that he's been taking meetings with David Bryan. A representative for Stone confirms the director is interested in the project, telling the publication, 'He's thinking about it.'
Oliver Stone And Bruce Wagner To Develop One Hour Dramatic Series for EPIX

Oscar-winning producer/writer/director Oliver Stone and Bruce Wagner have entered into a development deal with EPIX it was announced today. Their first project will be a one hour scripted dramatic series, 'Still Holding,' based on the iconoclastic Wagner's critically acclaimed novel of the same name. The series will explore the colliding worlds of three disparate people in Los Angeles, and the violent consequences of love and betrayal, of holding on and letting go. Stone and Wagner will serve as executive producers. They previously worked together on the mini-series 'Wild Palms.'
