When Broadway's Libby Servais, Terrance Reddick and an all star ensemble of singers take the stage at The Green Room 42 on Sunday afternoon at 2pm, their performances will be accompanied by live professional American Sign Language interpretation.  SOUNDS FOR THE SILENT, a cabaret designed to benefit the National Association for the Deaf, will feature Beth Applebaum and Craig Fogel providing live ASL during the performances.  Ms. Applebaum is a deaf artist who in addition to her acting credits (recently off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons) has also interpreted shows and cabarets, notably for Shaina Taub at Joe's Pub. Fogel is a nationally certified interpreter for the deaf whose credits include TWELFTH NIGHT with the New York Deaf Theatre on NYC's celebrated Shakespeare in the Park stage. (more...)

KALEVALA The Musical is a story of ancient legends told by the spirits of the haunted forest of Kalevala. The musical is adapted from materials of the national epic poem of Finland. Among others, the author of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit, J.R.R.Tolkien has acknowledged the direct influence of Kalevala in his works. The story has been set to an ethereal yet powerful pop, folk, and world music score written by Johanna Telander. The concert will feature performances from composer Johanna Telander, Raissa Katona Bennett (The Phantom of the Opera), Omer Shaish (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), and acclaimed Finnish actress Reeta Vestman, along with Mary Baron, Nicole Corris, Kelly Delaveris, Jennifer Hiemstra, Natsuko Hirano, Markus Kaitila, John Koski, Kristi Roosmaa, Catrina Teruel, and Amanda Yachechak. The band includes David Fletcher, Carol Ma, Arei Sekiguchi, and Christopher Telander, with musical direction by Sean Ferguson. (more...)

Award-winning New York based writer and performer Tim Realbuto, who will star in the upcoming motion picture YES (based on his stage play of the same name), will bring his popular 'Because I Can' concert series to an end at the Triad Theatre on Friday, February 9th, 2018 at 7:00 PM. He premiered his first 'Because I Can' concert at The Metropolitan Room last April and performed part two earlier this month at The Triad. The Metropolitan Room has been the producer of all three 'Because I Can' shows, but the second incarnation and now the third and final one will be performed at The Triad as The Metropolitan Room is in the middle of moving locations.
