Photo Flash: Johanna Telander's KALEVALA THE MUSICAL Concert Comes to The Scandinavia House

Kristi Roosmaa, Nicole Corris with Corris Line Productions, and Maija Anttila with Soulgaze Films presented a sold out concert performance of Kalevala the Musical, composed by Johanna Telander at the Scandinavia House in New York.

KALEVALA The Musical is a story of ancient legends told by the spirits of the haunted forest of Kalevala. The musical is adapted from materials of the national epic poem of Finland. Among others, the author of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit, J.R.R.Tolkien has acknowledged the direct influence of Kalevala in his works. The story has been set to an ethereal yet powerful pop, folk, and world music score written by Johanna Telander. Narrated by Heli Sirviö and introduced by Cori Ellison. The concert featured performances from composer Johanna Telander, Raissa Katona Bennett (The Phantom of the Opera), Conor Ryan (Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert), John Koski, Quentin Garzón and acclaimed Finnish actress Reeta Vestman, along with Amanda Yachechak, Catrina Teruel, Jennifer Hiemstra, Joe Boover, Kelly Delaveris, Kristi Roosmaa, Marika Abe, Mary Baron, Markus Kaitila, Natsuko Hirano, Nicole Corris, Tsubasa Ogawa and a special appearance by ABT ballet dancer Elina Miettinen. The band included Arei Sekiguchi, Carol Ma, David Fletcher, Ian Ross and Christopher Telander, musical direction by Sean Ferguson and vocal direction by David Caldwell and Nicole Corris.
