Utah Opera Artistic Director Christopher McBeth today announced plans to stream Utah Opera's performance of Rachel Portman and Nicholas Wright's a?oeThe Little Prince.a?? The production, which was recorded in January 2019, is available for complimentary, on-demand streaming at utahopera.org starting Monday, June 22, 2020 at 7 PM MDT through Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its annual holiday family opera tradition with The Lion, the Unicorn, and Me, December 14-16, 2018, in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Based on Jeanette Winterson's award-winning children's book which tells the Nativity story from the donkey's point of view, The Lion, the Unicorn, and Me features music by Tony-award winning composer Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home) and a libretto by the late poet J.D. 'Sandy' McClatchy. These performances star current and former members of WNO's Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program.

Karvellas is no stranger to South African theatre goers, having directed multiple-award winning productions at The Fugard Theatre in his former role as Resident Director there. These include Oleanna, The Road to Mecca, Shakespeare in Love, Significant Other, The Father, Clybourne Park, Bad Jews and CHAMP (which also enjoyed successful seasons at the Artscape Arena Theatre, the National Arts Festival and the Edinburgh Festival in 2013).

One of the theater world's most prestigious playwriting prizes, the Yale Drama Series Prize, was given to Leah Nanako Winkler for her play God Said This. The 2018 award recipient was chosen by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar. The winning play received a private staged reading at Lincoln Center Theater's Claire Tow Theater on October 30, 2018.
