When he returns to his room at the Lorraine Motel, King is visited by Camae, a mysterious maid whose charm disarms the civil rights leader. He doesn't know it, but this will be the last night of his life. This is the setup of The Mountaintop. Throughout the play, writer Katori Hall's witty and intelligent dialogue exposes the man behind the movement.
Seattle Theatre Group (STG) announces its highest-attended season to date with more than 1 million patrons attending more than 700 events during its 2017/2018 season - an increase in attendance of over 35% from STG's previous record (771,00 in 2015). The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. A new musical is being developed by a Nova Scotian writing team that will feature songs originally made famous by Anne Murray, the Grammy-award-winning singer from Springhill, Nova Scotia. The show just underwent a 2-week developmental workshop in Halifax with an 11-member cast of actors. The workshop culminated in a staged reading presentation at the Bella Rose Arts Centre this past Friday.
