Playwrights Horizons Announces 2022-23 Season

Playwrights Horizons today announced its 2022–2023 season. Brought together amidst the easing of a reality-altering pandemic —during which desire for a “return to normal” began to feel at once futile and shortsighted—the lineup consists of five works that consider and radically challenge the very idea of normalcy.

American Blues Continues Live Reading Series With ORIGIN STORY

American Blues Theater, under the continued leadership of Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside, presents a live, online reading of Origin Story by Nathan Alan Davis, directed by Ensemble member Manny Buckley, as part of “The Room” series. The play will be live on Friday, February 25 at 7pm. 

Edinburgh International Festival Announces First Shows For 2022 Programme

As people across Scotland and beyond prepare to mark the birth of Robert Burns on Burns Night, the Edinburgh International Festival and the National Theatre of Scotland celebrate his life and legacy with Burn, starring Alan Cumming, which premieres at the 2022 Edinburgh International Festival. Scotland's national theatre company also brings a brand-new staging of Liz Lochhead's powerful adaption of Euripides' Medea to this year's Festival.

A 2016 winner of the prestigious National Theatre Company Grant Award by the American Theatre Wing, Classical Theatre Company is the only professional theatre company in the State of Texas that solely produces classical drama on a year-round basis, CTC only produces plays that are 100 or more years old. 

REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES to be Adapted into Broadway Musical

Barry and Fran Weissler are adapting the acclaimed 2002 independent film Real Women Have Curves into a musical. Sergio Trujillo has been tapped to direct, with Lisa Loomer writing the book and Grammy-winning dup Jesse & Joy writing the score, likely making it the first Broadway musical with a Latine director, bookwriter, lyricist, and composer.

PlayGround-LA Announces November 8 Monday Night PlayGround

Following the successful opening of Season 10 earlier this month, Los Angeles playwright incubator PlayGround-LA has recently announced the prompt for the next Monday Night PlayGround short play staged reading event. Thirty-six Los Angeles writers had just four-and-a-half days to generate their original scripts inspired by the prompt 'WHODUNNIT' as they vie for one of six slots in the second round of this year's Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series, presented live at The Broadwater Second Stage and simulcast online on November 8th at 7pm PT.

Williamston Theatre Presents THIS WONDERFUL LIFE

Mid-Michigan's award-winning professional theatre company, Williamston Theatre, located at 122  S. Putnam Street in downtown Williamston, is thrilled to kick off Season 15 with This Wonderful  Life by Steve Murray. Performances for this beautiful holiday story begin Thursday, November 18 and run through Sunday, December 19. Tickets go on sale at Noon on Tuesday, October 26.

Naomi Peterson Joins the Cast of Mercury Theatre's BASKERVILLE!

Naomi Peterson joins the company in the role of Miss Stapleton and others, joining the previously announced Richard Ede (Sherlock Holmes), Marc Pickering (Stapleton and others), Eric Stroud (Doctor Watson), Naomi Peterson (Miss Stapleton and others), Phil Yarrow (Sir Henry and others).
