TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will go on sale Friday, January 20 for 24 performances from April 25 to May 14 as part of the 2022-2023 KeyBank Broadway Series at Playhouse Square.

Both the movie and the musical stand out because, while the rock legend ascends from rags to riches by the end, the story is less interested in Turner's journey to stardom than in her liberation from years of violent physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband and musical partner, Ike Turner...

On the latest episode, BroadwayRadio's Matt Tamanini is in conversation with the two women currently sharing the title role in the national tour of “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.” Zurin Villanueva and Naomi Rodgers alternate performances in the dynamic, powerhouse role, each taking the stage four times per week. 

Tina - The Tina Turner Musical follows the life and career of legendary recording artist Tina Turner. The story begins with her upbringing in Nutbush, Tennessee, continues with her tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner, and ends with her transformation into the global queen of rock 'n' roll. In case anyone's wondering, this is a different dramatization from the 1993 Academy Award nominated biographical film, What's Love Got to Do With It.

The bio-musical 'Tina (The Tina Turner Musical) is a great snapshot of the highs and lows of Tina Turner. It is difficult at best for anyone to walk in the shoes of the Queen of Rock and Roll seeing that she is 'Simply, The Best'. TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will play limited engagements at two venues in the San Francisco Bay Area—August 1–27, 2022 San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre, as part of BroadwaySF’s 2022/23 season and August 29–September 3, 2023 at San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts, as part of Broadway San Jose’s 2022/23 season.

Hennepin Theatre Trust has announced that TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will make its Minnesota debut for 16 performances from Wednesday, March 1 to Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the historic Orpheum Theatre (910 Hennepin Ave.) as part of the 2022-2023 Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin season.

Casting has been announced for the North American tour ofTINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL. The tour will hold technical rehearsals and launch at  the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on September 11, 2022 and go on to  visit 30 cities in its first year. 

From the producer of The Lion King and Aladdin, Frozen, the Tony-nominated Best Musical, will play an exclusive two-week premiere engagement at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center beginning Tuesday, May 17, 2022, with performances playing through Sunday, May 29, 2022. Opening night is set for Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30pm.

Original Broadway cast member Lauren Nicole Chapman will join the Frozen North American tour as “Anna.” Chapman begins performances on Thursday, May 19 at The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI.
