The York Theatre Company honored musical theater legends Richard Maltby, Jr. & David Shire (Baby, Big, Starting Here, Starting Now, Closer Than Ever) with the 2021 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theater and Elisa Loti Stein with The York Theatre Company Founders’ Award at the 29th Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala, held on Monday evening, November 1, 2021 at The Edison Ballroom.

Directed by Austin Pendleton (Fiddler on the Roof) and with music direction by Nancy Ford (I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road), the cast of four will feature Anita Gillette (Moonstruck) as Amanda Wingfield, Piper Goodeve (Anne of Green Gables) as Laura Wingfield, Jeff Kready (Tootsie) as Jim O'Connor, and Howard McGillin (The Phantom of the Opera) as Tom Wingfield.

The York Theatre Company will present a benefit New York premiere concert performance of the new musical Blue Roses, with book and lyrics by Mimi Turque and music by Nancy Ford, based on The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. 

The York Theatre Company has announced the continuation of its 50th Anniversary Season at its new temporary home at The Theatre at St. Jean’s. Following a devastating flood due to a water main break in January 2021 at its home at Saint Peter’s Church, the company will temporarily relocate to The Theatre at St. Jean’s.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, is presenting the return engagement of the Off-Broadway production of Gerard Alessandrini's hilarious musical spoof of all things theatre Forbidden Broadway: The Next Generation. Performances resumed Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2020 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

THE GREEN ROOM 42, Broadway's Funky New Cabaret Club, presents BUCK FIFTY: LYRICS I WROTE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MY 40s, an evening celebrating the last ten years of shows and songs by award-winning writer Sammy Buck.

Opening the 2019 winter series is Carmelina, with music by Burton Lane, lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, additional lyrics by Barry Harman, and book by Joseph Stein and Alan Jay Lerner. Performances began Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2019 and continue for 11 performances only through February 3, 2019. The show officially opened last night and BroadwayWorld was there. James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director and Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director cut the ribbon last night and revealed the newly renovated York Theater interior at Saint Peter's Church at Citicorp. The project was aided in part by New York City's Cultural Affairs Dept. and Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, who injected the event into the Congressional Record.  All agreed the new seats was quite comfortable and it was bottoms up at the celebration at The York Theatre last night.  

Tony-nominated actor Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll & Hyde; Rothschild & Sons; Javert in Les Mis; upcoming Paint Your Wagon) will lead the cast of MAGICAL THINKING: My Favorite Indigents & Severe Clear by playwright/designer Carrie Robbins, and directed by Paul Dobie (Associate/Assistant Director for B'way's Once, Cabaret, Wicked, Martin Short… Fame Becomes Me, Glengarry Glen Ross).

Tony Award-winners Chita Rivera and Karen Ziemba, Norman Norman Jewison, Academy Award-winning director of the 1971 film version of Fiddler on the Roof (Irving Thalberg Award Recipient), and Ambassador Ido Aharoni, Counsul General of Israel, have joined the lineup of Raising the Roof, an all-star benefit concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene, the 50th Anniversary of iconic American musical, Fiddler on the Roof, and the 90th birthday of its Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning lyricist, Sheldon Harnick, on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at New York's The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street).
