Eighteen séances in April, May and June did not do the trick, so award-winning actress/playwright/comedian Nancy Redman will join forces with iconic director Austin Pendleton for 18 more sessions of 'A  Séance With Mom' from August 21 to September 3 at Chain Studio Theatre.

Rossini's rollicking The Barber of Seville will return to Opera San José this fall, offering an upbeat comedy for operagoers of all ages. Subtitled “The Useless Precaution,” this opera buffa introduces the rapscallion barber Figaro, who uses all his wiles to assist the love-struck Count Almaviva in liberating his true love Rosina from the clutches of her guardian, Dr. Bartolo.

On Friday, July 28th, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another phenomenal performance by Musicals at Richter, in Danbury, CT, Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN.  Musicals at Richter has a talent in making their outdoor venue feel like the perfect venue for every show they put on, including THE MUSIC MAN, as the moon shines from behind the trees backstage!  They also manage to get the perfect cast for each show, with each cast member excelling at the role they play, as the cast gels together as a collective group of highly talented local performers who are spectacular in their stage presence, stage chemistry with each other, acting, singing, dancing, and ability to radiate positive vibes from the stage, helping the audience enjoy watching them perform as much as the cast enjoys performing!  The directing of David Halliwell combines with the musical directing of Peter Randazzo, and the choreography of Lindsay Miller to help maximize the talents of this stellar cast!

Nurturing new arts is not new for Reading, PA. Most recently, it's where two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony nominated playwright, Lynn Nottage's SWEAT got its wings.

A new perspective on Scotland's biodiversity crisis through sound, 1000 Miniature Meadows is an ambitious attempt to invade our outdoor spaces and explore our connection with biodiversity and nature. This will involve the planting of 1,000 wildflower meadows across the city of Edinburgh; participants will sign up to take part via the Pleasance or Edinburgh Fringe website.

Playwrights Foundation, the West Coast's premier launchpad for exceptional new plays and playwrights, has announced the playwright cohort for the 46th Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF46) which will be presented in a hybrid festival with in-person readings April 12 - 21, 2024 in San Francisco and on-demand recordings released post festival.
