Jacob's Pillow Reinstates National Dance Presenters Forum In Festival 2018

Jacob's Pillow announces the return of The National Dance Presenters Forum at Jacob's Pillow, organized with key partners in response to field-wide demand and in support of the Pillow's commitment to facilitate and host discourses in dance development as outlined in its five-year strategic plan, Vision '22. The National Dance Presenters Forum was first established at Jacob's Pillow in August 1996 and was held annually through 2006. The forum was widely recognized for its lasting impact on the professional development of performing arts presenters and the national growth and interest in the presentation and touring of dance.

VIDEO: BRODSKY/BARYSHNIKOV Blossoms at The Cherry Orchard Festival

The Cherry Orchard Festival is hosting BRODSKY/BARYSHNIKOV, created and directed by Alvis Hermanis. Actor Mikhail Baryshnikov performs the one-man show, based on the poems of Joseph Brodsky. This production is performed in Russian with English subtitles, provided by Jamey Gambrell. BRODSKY/BARYSHNIKOV runs at the Cherry Orchard Festival from January 17th - 21st.

2018 Rioult Dance NY Announces January Preview, Touring Schedule, and New Season

Pascal Rioult's RIOULT Dance NY, the American modern dance company with a European sensibility, announces its 2018 performance schedule. RIOULT kicks off the New Year with a season teaser performance at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on January 19 at 7:30. Sarah Arison Appointed Chair Of YoungArts At Backyard Ball

On Saturday, January 13, 2018, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) announced the appointment of Sarah Arison as Chair of the Board of Trustees during the organization's largest annual fundraiser, the Backyard Ball performance and gala. Ms. Arison will assume the position immediately. The celebratory evening honored Academy Award-winning playwright and YoungArts master teacher Tarell Alvin McCraney (1999 YoungArts Winner in Theater) with the 2018 Arison Alumni Award for his contributions and commitment to the arts.

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. Announces Aaron Mattocks New Director Of Programming

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc., announced today that Aaron Mattocks will take over as Director of Programming, effective February 1, 2018. Mattocks replaces Martin Wechsler, who stepped down at the end of 2017 after 32 years at The Joyce, 22 of those as Director of Programming, helping to transform the organization into the world's leading presenter of dance.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents an encore of choreographer Jodi Melnick's sold-out 2016 commission, NEW BODIES. This Works & Process commissioned work weaves together dance, spoken text, and moderated discussion with live music, featuring New York City Ballet dancers Jared Angle, Sara Mearns, and Taylor Stanley in a role originated by Gretchen Smith, with harpsichord by composer Gy rgy Ligeti, violin by composer Heinrich Biber, and commissioned music by Robert Boston.Also, Melnick, who enjoyed a performance career with Twyla Tharp (among many others), will perform One of Sixty-Five Thousand Gestures, a solo work created in collaboration with the late Trisha Brown.

Baryshnikov Arts Center Presents Anton Batagov & Attacca Quartet in World Premiere

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) opens its Spring 2018 Music Series with Anton Batagov and the Attacca Quartet on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 7:30pm in the Jerome Robbins Theater. This varied evening of music features the World Premiere of Different Things from influential post-minimalist Russian composer and pianist Anton Batagov, paired with Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 18, No. 6. Batagov's Different Things will be performed by the composer (at the piano) and the Attacca Quartet, one of America's premier young string ensembles, along with Kris Saebo, double bass; Linda Jones, soprano; Luthien Brackett, mezzo soprano; Andrew Fuchs, tenor; and Steven Hrycelak, bass.
