Segerstrom Center for the Arts proudly presents the World Premiere of American Ballet Theatre's Of Love and Rage, a new work choreographed by ABT Artist-in-Residence and MacArthur Genius Alexei Ratmansky. Sets and costumes are by award-winning designer Jean-Marc Puissant, with lighting by designer Duane Schuler. Inspired from the first century Greek novel, Callirhoe, the libretto for Of Love and Rage was adapted by actor, director, screenwriter and Molière Award winner Guillaume Gallienne. The ballet is set to music by Aram Khachaturian with arrangements by Philip Feeney and performed live by Pacific Symphony. There will be five performances: March 5 a?" 8, 2020 in Segerstrom Hall. The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is pleased to announce the long-awaited return of Pacific Northwest Ballet, the company's first NYC season in four years. Presenting two distinct mixed programs, the heralded company, under the direction of former New York City Ballet Principal dancer Peter Boal, will play Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater (20 Lincoln Center Plaza) June 23-28, with a special gala performance on June 25. All performances will be accompanied by the PNB Orchestra under the music direction of Principal Conductor Emil de Cou. Pearl Eternity (PearlTheShow.com), a Broadway style dance-theatre spectacular, inspired by the life of Pearl S. Buck, the first woman to win both the Nobel and the Pulitzer Prizes, will play the Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue) on Saturday, January 11 at 8pm. The story, focusing on the substantial influence Pearl had on both Chinese and Western cultures, will be brought to life through choreography by Daniel Ezralow (Ezralow Dance Company, Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, Cirque du Soleil's LOVE, MOMIX, Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony, Academy Awards), a new score composed by Jun Miyake (collaborations with Robert Wilson, Pina Bausch, David Byrne and Oliver Stone), story by Zhang Bing, produced by Angela Tang, dazzling visuals, and a company of 20 dancers. Forty-two students from the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center, plus four additional talented young dancers from Orange County, will perform alongside the world renowned ABT company, in this classic holiday show.
