The 37th season of the Verdi Chorus continues with the Fox Singers , presented by the Verdi Chorus and the Sahm Family Foundation, in Songs of Fantasy for one night only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on February 1, at 7:30pm. Led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, the Fox Singers comprise the professional ensemble of the Verdi Chorus, which is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. This program, devoted to all things fantastical, will feature enchanting arias, duets and ensembles from the world of opera, as well as beloved songs from the canon of mid-century American musical theater, including Mozart's The Magic Flute, Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Bernstein's Peter Pan and Candide, and more!
Umphrey's McGee Release New Single 'Suxity'

Improv-rock group Umphrey's McGee have always had an uncanny ability to melt down any genre of music, blend the molten styles, and hammer forge a new sound for each new song they write. While writing and recording their newest single, “Suxity,” the ingredients were—in guitarist and co-writer Jake Cinninger's words—part Sly Stone, part Alice In Chains. Premiered yesterday via American Songwriter, “Suxity” was the first song Umphrey's recorded during their sessions with producer Ryan Hewitt (The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Lumineers) at Nashville's famed Blackbird Studio.

From 1989 to 2001, a criminal mastermind named “Uncle Jerry” defrauded the hugely popular McDonald's Monopoly promotional game of millions of dollars in prize money. By stealing valuable game pieces from McDonald's, Jerry was able to hand-select winners, hoodwink the authorities and share the ill-gotten gains. The deception, which started among family and friends, soon expanded to include a cast of shifty ex-cons with ties to the mafia and unsuspecting co-conspirators.

For her January 11th concert at Utah Valley University's beautiful new Noorda Center for the Performing Arts, Peters came in anticipating those expectations and fully prepared to fulfill them and then some.
