The Roaring Twenties became the Roaring 2020s at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's annual gala last night. Amazon.com and retail establishments in Florida must have run out of Flapper dresses leading up to this exciting event as most of the women wore the traditional 1920's dresses to the gala put on by Florida's largest regional theatre.

Kennedy Caughell gives a heartfelt performance as Carole King in 'Beautiful,' an otherwise flawed musical that does to King's career what most Broadway musicals do to the subjects of jukebox musicals. The musical element of the show, however, overcomes its many deficiencies to result in an overall enjoyable production.

Sometimes an evening in the theatre can be provocative, emotionally stirring, highly uplifting, mind-altering, eye-opening or even life-changing. Sometimes an evening in the theatre can bring you such immense joy or elation by the power of the story or the incredible performances that your very soul is set on fire and the a?oehigha?? lingers far beyond the final curtain. Sometimes you feel that your life would be just a little emptier, or that you would have really missed out on                something very special, had you not spent that evening in the theatre. BEAUTIFUL is none of these. But it's a nice evening, all the same.

The Beautiful tour's Matt Loehr has spent his career challenging the box that dancers have been put in. With nine Broadway shows and countless off-Broadway credits, Matt has learned that it's not solely about working hard, it's about working effectively.  With a goal of being the best triple threat there is, he has gone from  one of the best dancers on Broadway to currently starring on the Beautiful tour in a non-dancing/singing role. The DJ intones 'ladies choice' and spins a?oeWill You Still Love Me Tomorrowa?? by The Shirelles. #2. Steele Spring Stage Rights has acquired the theatrical performance rights to the original Off-Broadway musical comedy R.R.R.E.D., with music and lyrics by Katie Thompson and a book by Adam Jackman, Katie Thompson, and Patrick Livingston.

While the Earth didn't exactly move during the national tour stop of BEAUTIFUL at the Hanover Theater in Worcester this week, this more successful than most biographical jukebox musical did set off an occasional temblor. No surprise, those moments came when the show's legendary subject, Carole King, was channeled by her doppelganger Kennedy Caughell alone at the piano.

The cast of the North American toura?"including a stop at State Theatre New Jerseya?"for Beautiful a?" The Carole King Musical has been announced. Also, due to popular demand a fifth show has been added for Sunday, November 10 at 7pm. The State Theatre performances of Beautiful are Friday, November 8, 2019 at 8pm; Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets range from $40-$98.
