The Kennedy Center announces the November calendar of events for Millennium Stage, its free daily performance series featuring art and artists representing countless artistic styles.  The Kennedy Center continues its annual tradition of Thanksgiving swing dance with jitterbug and Lindy Hop expert dancers Gottaswing (November 28).

The Missoula Community Theatre (MCT) proudly presents the new musical, Disney's Freaky Friday, Oct. 24-Nov. 3 at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts. When a story is genuinely compelling, it contains the power to be retold in many different ways, and to speak across generations. Such is the case with Disney's Freaky Friday, which has entertained families since the original 1972 Mary Rodgers book was released and subsequently produced into two successful movies. 

Returning to the Gatehouse with another classic musical rarely seen in London, Mark Giesser steps back into the director's chair for his new production of Once Upon A Mattress, the first musical by Mary Rodgers, daughter of legendary musical composer Richard Rodgers. This adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy-tale The Princess and the Pea opened on Broadway in 1959, where it was nominated for a Tony, and revived starring Sarah Jessica Parker in 1996.

The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival is now presenting a thought-provoking production of Working a Musical at the Merry – Go – Round Playhouse. The musical features a book by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso with additional contributions by Gordon Greenberg; music by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Lin-Manual Miranda, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz, and James Taylor; and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. Producing Artistic Director of the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, Brett Smock, directs and choreographs this simple, fresh, and relatable production.

Stories about adults and kids swapping bodies have been around for a while. Of course, you have some classic 80's movies like 18 Again! (1988) Starring George Burns, Like Father Like Son (1987) with Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore and even Vice Versa (1988) with Fred Savage and Judge Reinhold.

Disney's Freaky Friday just opened at North Shore Music Theatre. Based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers. It was then made into a movie by Disney in 1976 staring Jody Foster and Barbara Harris, with a less memorable movie remake in 2018. It is now a newly created, fun family musical with all the bells and whistles.

Unlike the vast majority of musicals granted concert productions by City Center's Encores! Off-Center, the collaborate effort known as WORKING did not play an Off-Broadway run before hitting Times Square. Instead, Chicago's Goodman Theatre production transferred to the 46th Street Theatre in 1978, where it garnered numerous Tony nominations, including best musical.
