Nearly 161 years ago, President Abraham Lincoln was shot by actor John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre as he watched a production of OUR AMERICA COUSIN. Every American knows this famous and tragic tale, but not everyone will know the story of those on stage that night. Making its full-length premiere in Phoenix, Angelique Fustukjian, Matthew Namik, and Nick Roy’s new play OUR AMERICAN TRAGEDY tells the story of the cast and crew after that terrible night.

Tennessee Playwrights Studio Introduces 2019 Fellows and Associates

Tennessee Playwrights Studio, a Nashville-based new-play development lab in partnership with Actors Bridge Ensemble, has announced its fellows and associates for 2019. Five TPS fellows, chosen from a competitive application process, will work under the direction of Kenley Smith to develop new full-length scripts that will be presented in public readings at the Darkhorse Theatre Chapel later this year. Two associates will contribute to monthly workshop sessions in the first year and will become TPS Fellows in 2020. TPS will continue to cast actors from the Nashville community for workshops and readings.

Tennessee Playwrights Studio Announces 2018 Inaugural Season Fellows and Associates

Four TPS fellows - chosen from a competitive application process - will work under the direction of Kenley Smith, director of the TPS program, to develop new full-length scripts to be presented in a public reading at the Darkhorse Theatre this fall. Two Associates will serve as alternates for the program and will contribute to monthly workshop sessions in the first year and will fill two TPS fellow positions in 2019. Selected Winners of Musical Inspirations Art Contest to Debut at Gheens Foundation Great Expectations Concert

Winners have been announced for the unique Musical Inspirations Art Contest, hosted by The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts and Louisville Orchestra. The selected winners' pieces will make their public debut at the Gheens Foundation Great Expectations concert on February 7. The prizewinning art work will be projected onto large screens while the Louisville Orchestra and the Louisville Youth Orchestra combine forces to perform the music that inspired their art: the complete Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.

The Gheens Great Expectations concert is part of The Kentucky Center's Gheens Great Expectations Program. Students across the Commonwealth will have the exclusive opportunity to have their artwork projected 15 feet tall at The Kentucky Center for the Arts, during a performance by The Louisville Orchestra and the Louisville Youth Orchestra playing the music that inspired their art work in February, as part of an innovative new art contest. The Kentucky Center and Louisville Orchestra have announced that they will be holding a unique music-based art contest for Kentucky students in grades 8-12. The contest calls for 2-D artwork inspired by one of five provided musical compositions, all from Pictures at an Exhibition, by famed Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky. The deadline to submit artwork through the online platform, Acceptd, is January 10.
