To become as time-honored and established as WALNUT STREET THEATRE is no easy feat. The theatre, which boasts over 200 years of operation as the oldest theatre in America, has seen its fair share of history through the bright lights that shine down on their world-renowned stage.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has expanded its 2015 Off Center Festival to include two Parties-on-the-Plaza (POP) Saturday, January 24 and Friday, January 30. Sundance Institute announced today the films selected for the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions and the out-of-competition NEXT <=> section of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, January 22 to February 1 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. With Fully Committed running at the Menier, and Forbidden Broadway at the Vaudeville Theatre, Artistic Director David Babani welcomes Jamie Lloyd's major revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins as part of Menier Chocolate Factory's 10-year anniversary season. The production opens tonight, 1 December 2014, with previews from 21 November, and runs until 7 March 2015.

Following critically acclaimed workshop presentations, the plays of Steven Carl McCasland will return to NYC in a month-long festival celebrating the young playwright. Together with The Clarion Theatre, they'll present six plays beginning on May 6th, 2015, with a company of actors performing in repertory. All of the plays focus on historical figures, including Laurette Taylor, Billie Holiday, Tennessee Williams, Gertrude Stein, Lillian Hellman and more.

Today in 1950, Guys and Dolls opened at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rodgers Theatre), where it ran for 1200 performances. Guys and Dolls is a musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.
