Pasadena's Stage Door Inc. is greeting 2013 with the 1996 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Jonathan Larson's renown musical RENT. RENT, inspired by Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème, tells the story of a handful of New York City's East Village artists and their struggles with life, love, AIDS, and addiction.

Handsome singer Henry Prego, who is revered internationally for his tribute to Frank Sinatra, has brought his 'Live from the Sands' nostalgic show to the Encore Dinner Theatre through December 1. It is wrong to label Prego an impersonator. First of all, he is not an artist in drag, but a male singer singing in his own great voice and he is not doing a parody of the iconic Sinatra. He is rather, as he calls himself, an ambassador of the Chairman of the Board's music. Blue-eyed, with big ears and with the stance and mannerisms Sinatra is best remembered for, Prego, particularly when he looks up or down, does resemble 'ole blue eyes. Sinatra was cool and smooth, so is Prego. He had a quiet but pal friendly manner with the band, so does Prego. Let's stop the comparisons. Prego is a fine singer period who immortalizes the Sinatra Songbook.

The Mirvish Second Stage Series will bring four exciting plays to Toronto audiences over the next year, and will be offered in a unique subscription series all its own. The inaugural season will feature three Canadian productions and a critically acclaimed one-man show fresh off The New York Musical Theatre Workshop and Edinburgh Fringe.

The off-Broadway production of Rent will close after the performance today, September 9, at New World Stages. The production will have played 32 previews and 450 performances. Rent, which is written by Jonathan Larson and directed by Michael Greif, opened at the theater on August 11, 2011. It's not often one gets to see a live performance by an actor who originated a role on Broadway so conclusively that every other take on the part (in this case, Mark Cohen in RENT) seems like an imitation. Visitors to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe can do just that this year by attending Without You, a one-man show starring Anthony Rapp, from the original cast of Jonathan Larson's groundbreaking, Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera.

The cast of DANCING WITH THE STARS: ALL STARS has just been announced. The show will premiere Monday, September 24, 8:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT on the ABC Network. The All-Stars cast will feature Gilles Marini, Pamela Anderson, Kelly Monaco, Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft, Joey Fatone, Helio Castroneves, Drew Lachey, Bristol Palin, Apolo Anton Ono, Kirstie Alley and Emmit Smith.

Today's spotlight falls upon Matthew Hayes Hunter, aka Matt Hunter, who is currently onstage in Legally Blonde the Musical at Woodbury's Arts Center of Cannon County. The show only runs through Saturday night, so you better make it snappy if you want to catch his bravura performance. Coming up, he'll be performing at The First Night Honors on Sunday, September 2, at The Troutt Theatre at Belmont University, and in late September he'll be appearing in the MTSU Theatre production of Guys and Dolls.

SILHOUETTE STAGES has announced auditions and a call to artists and production team for its Oct/Nov production of RENT, with book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, directed by Susan G. Kramer and with musical direction to be announced. Auditions will take place tonight, July 12, and Monday, July 16 from 7 to 10 p.m.
