El pianista Carlos Alberto Pecero (1963), integrante de la agrupación Concertistas de Bellas Artes y uno de los intérpretes con mayor reconocimiento internacional, falleció este miércoles. Su amplia trayectoria en el ámbito musical le permitió contar con distinciones y presentaciones al lado de grandes figuras, como los violonchelistas Yo-Yo Ma y Mstislav Rostropovich, así como la flautista Elena Durán.

Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the winners of BSO's 2020 Young Artist Concerto Competition. Yvette Kraft (violin) is the 2020 Winner of the Senior Division and Daniel Stein (cello) is the 2020 Winner of the Junior Division. Both winners will join the BSO for their spring concert on May 30 & 31 to perform the works that garnered their winning placement in the 2020 competition. Yvette will perform Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 (1st movement), and Daniel will perform Edouard Lalo's Cello Concerto in D minor (1st movement).

The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago will present Rising Stars in Concert on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 2 pm at the Lyric Opera House. Due to the structure of the 2019|20 season and the Ring cycle schedule in April, the annual Rising Stars in Concert will be held earlier than in past seasons.

The Drama League (Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Director Bevin Ross) announced today the acting company for the 36th annual DirectorFest, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is thrilled to welcome back Miami Big Sound Orchestra as part of the monthly a?oeJazz at MOCAa?? series on Friday, Dec. 27. Known as downtown Miami's resident Latin Jazz big band since 2006, Miami Big Sound Orchestra combines 21st-century big band jazz with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, funk and soul. Word for Word's first production of the 2020 Season is Octavio Solis's Retablos: Stories from A Life Lived Along the Border from his same titled memoir of growing up in El Paso. Retablos: Stories from A Life Lived Along the Border runs February 22 -March 15, in the Z Below Theater in San Francisco. The production is directed by Sheila Balter and Jim Cave and opens with press performance February 22 & 23, Saturday 8 PM & Sunday 3 PM (previews Feb.19- 21).
