Odyssey Opera today announced the release of its fourth recording: Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco: The Importance of Being Earnest. Scored for a cast of eight singers, two pianos, and percussion, this witty, romantic three-act chamber opera brings Oscar Wilde's most famous play to life with music that pokes as much fun at the opera world as Wilde does at Victorian society. Conductor Gil Rose leads the Odyssey Opera Orchestra and some of today's top vocalists including tenors Neal Ferreira and Stefan Barner, and sopranos Jeni Houser, Rachele Schmiege and Claudia Waite.

The Fire This Time Festival, the destination for early career and emerging playwrights from the African diaspora, announces its 2020 dates. The 14-day festival, presented in collaboration with FRIGID New York, which annually honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place from January 20 to February 2, 2020. This year, seven commissioned dramatists will be presented in repertoire as part of the annual celebration held at the Kraine Theater in the East Village.

The Allen Davis Playwriting Lab announces its Winter season starting January, 2020. The Winter season will consist of ten weekly sessions of two and half hours for intermediate and professional playwrights. Lab sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9:30pm starting on January 7th. Playwrights interested in participating in the Lab on an intermediate level must have experience writing well-developed scenes. Professional playwrights must have written a full-length produceable level script.

Miss Virginia, Camille Schrier, was crowned Miss America 2020 last night live on NBC at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Miss America competition, which returned to NBC this year, was broadcast on NBC and live-streamed on NBC.com in a two-hour live special.

Tuesday night at The Green Room 42 in New York City, Michael Longoria's Holiday Hop brought Christmas cheer to benefit Opening Act. The one night only concert was produced by Michael Longoria, Liz Skollar of Skollar PR and Taylor James of 42West PR as a benefit for the students of Opening Act, an organization that seeks to level the playing field for students by specifically partnering with NYC schools that have lower than average graduation rates (as few as 33% of students graduating in four years) and an evident lack of theater programming.
