ABOUT LOVE Plays Its Final Performance Tonight, March 12

Due to the current health emergency, About Love will play its final performance off-Broadway at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture tonight, Thursday, March 12 at 7:30PM, a week-and-a-half earlier than its previously announced limited engagement was to conclude. Ticket-holders for canceled performances should contact their point of purchase for a refund.

Award winning Wild Swan Theater breaks new ground with its world premiere of Coding to the Moon, Margaret Hamilton and the Apollo Missions from March 4-7, 2020. This original play, intended for young people in grades 4 - 12, celebrates Margaret Hamilton's role as Director of Software Engineering for the onboard computer guidance system, the system that navigated the Apollo rocket ship to the moon and back. Wild Swan's Co-Artistic Director, Hilary Cohen, is serving as both playwright and director for this project. She has had the unique opportunity to spend countless hours over a yearlong period of interviewing Margaret Hamilton by phone from her home in Cambridge, MA.

And as the curtain goes up, the audience is treated to arguably the largest, most lavish production in MSMT history with a cast of fifty (that includes twenty children and a dog), dazzling technical elements, staging and choreography to blow one away, and performances to melt the heart. a?oea??When I saw Marc Robin's production at the Fulton in 2016, I said, a?oeWe have to do this at MSMT. THE WIZARD OF OZ had not been on this stage since 1961, and it was time to give it a new life,a?? says Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark. Classic Movies Under The Stars Announced At Montalvo Arts Center, July 12

Montalvo Arts Center invites movie-lovers to sit under the stars and enjoy classic movies with Sunset Cinemas. Part of its Summer Nights Series, the free screenings of The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Jaws will take place on the front lawn of Montalvo, where guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or low chair to set up. Michigan Humanities Awards $203,101 in Grants for Cultural Programming

Michigan Humanities is pleased to announce $203,101 in grants to 16 Michigan organizations in support of public humanities programming. In addition to this direct support, each agency was required to present matching cash or in-kind cost share, bringing an additional $374,885 to the table. This major grant cycle, the Humanities Grants, support projects exploring history, theatre, reading, education and community identity.

The story of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" has gone through many incarnations over the years: An American fairytale, a Broadway extravaganza, one of the first technicolor MGM movie musicals, and the 1989 West End holiday musical. Now, complete with dancing Munchkins and flying monkeys, Sierra Rep is delighted to present The Wizard of Oz this summer at the Historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park. The book is by John Kane, music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It has additional background music by Herbert Stothart. It is based on the novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film version written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf. This production will be co-directed by Scott Viets and Jerry Lee, who previously teamed up for Holiday Jukebox and The Robber Bridegroom. The production sponsor is DSN Outdoor.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce a fourth bonus show for the 2019 Mainstage Season entitled My Witch: The Stories of Margaret Hamilton (July 17-21). The show is a new play by John Ahlin which is about the life of Margaret Hamilton, who played the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. Will Pomerantz, Bay Street's Associate Artistic Director, is directing the production. Will also directed the sellout smash Evita last summer at Bay Street Theater. Margaret Hamilton is portrayed by Jean Tafler (The Deadly Spawn and Una: A Dark Faerie Tale).
