Following a show-stopping performance on last night's season finale of NBC's The Voice (watch here), singer-songwriter Brynn Cartelli has released her new song “Last Night's Mascara” – available now via all DSPs (stream here). The self-penned track sees her collaborating with Jesse Shatkin (Kelly Clarkson, Sia) and Mozella (Madonna, Miley Cyrus) for a brilliantly candid anthem. “I'm so excited about releasing 'Last Night's Mascara' because it showcases my love for storytelling in a real, stripped down, raw way” said Cartelli.

Four years ago, my husband and I took our kids to New York for Christmas. Like many unsuspecting fools, we just had to see the Macy's Santa. After winding our way through a gumdrop forest for what seemed to be an eternity, we made it to Santa's house, where he chatted with our fed up children for about 30 seconds before shuffling off to housewares. So maybe that's why the Theatre in the Park production of David Sedaris' THE SANTALAND DIARIES tickled my funny bone so.

The Central New York Playhouse Holiday production for this season is the timeless classic Miracle on 34th Street under the direction of Bella Calabria. production, set in present day, is heartwarming, nostalgic, and, as per usual, demonstrates the devotion of the community theater performers to their craft.

It's December and the holidays are here whether we like it or not. Cue the tinsel, tidings of great joy and the maple syrup. Yes, the maple syrup!

Before Broadway comes calling for Hatty Ryan King, the young Nashville actress with an enviable resume (the Lipscomb University sophomore is a Spotlight Award winner, was a finalist for The Jimmy Award, has worked with theater companies both community-oriented and professional and has proven herself a capable leading player along the way), you might want to get your tickets to see her onstage in Studio Tenn's ambitious, if woefully uneven, holiday season offering of Beauty and The Beast. In a role that could have been written for her, King shines as Belle, the ambitious and eager to learn and to embrace change young woman who is the heroine of the musical which features a score by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and a book by Linda Woolverton.

Paramount has sold all global rights for its Paramount Players horror film Eli to Netflix, according to Deadline.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), the professional North Fulton theatre company, will bring in the new year with its third mainstage show, the comedy Moonlight and Magnolias. Directed by GET Associate Artistic Director James Donadio, the production is graciously sponsored by Macy's and will run January 10 through January 27, 2019 at the company's home in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

The humor in many Sedaris pieces comes from the obvious anguish of social misfits forced to contort themselves into a publicly presentable form, or, conversely, the observer's schadenfreude in having the misfit revealed for their true, damaged self. Neither of those elements is really present in Santaland, where the stage David-Crumpet presents as a fairly well-adjusted fellow forced to take on a seemingly demeaning survival job.

The New Group is currently presenting Clueless, the Musical by Amy Heckerling in a world premiere production with choreography by Kelly Devine, directed by Kristin Hanggi. This week, Broadway Dreams and The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization hosted the 70th Anniversary gala concert celebration of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize Award-winning musical triumph, South Pacific. 

I was eager to finally experience The Santaland Diaries this year at Zach Theatre's intimate Whisenhunt Theatre, a perfect venue for this classic one-man show. I had heard David Sedaris deliver the story on NPR and I've read it a time or two over the years, but somehow never caught a production until this past Saturday night.

Celestial blooms will create a fantastic space-inspired floral fantasy as the Macy's Flower Show, returns in Spring 2019 to celebrate the start of the season. From Sunday, March 24 through Sunday, April 7, 2019, Journey to Paradisios will transport spectators into a multi-dimensional world of space, adventure, and discovery through florals and eccentrically landscaped gardens that celebrate the wonder and mystery of the cosmos.

In anticipation of the gala 30th anniversary celebration of The First Night Awards, Tennessee's best and brightest in live theater were revealed tonight as First Night's Top Ten of 2018 - reviewer and critic Jeffrey Ellis' annual recognition for theater in the Volunteer State - were announced during a Facebook Live presentation from Nashville.
