The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts announced today that the individual tickets for the tour of ANASTASIA are on sale now.

After a nearly two-year delay due to the pandemic, the national tour of ANASTASIA has finally graced the Eccles Theater with its exquisite presence. A rare case in which both production and material are equally glorious, ANASTASIA is like a sublimely crafted music box--both beautiful to behold and filled with magnificent music.

There are two big reasons to take in the national touring production of ANASTASIA, now running at Keller Auditorium: Kyla Stone (who plays the central character) and the visual spectacle.

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is offering nearly two dozen amazing and audience-wowing shows and events during the month of March.

Anyone that has read my reviews or columns over the years knows that I always pay attention to the orchestrations and orchestrator of any given musical. Let’s face it, without the orchestrator, the score is only a piano. Today’s subject Doug Besterman has been living his theatre life for many years as an orchestrator for Broadway, regional, and West End theatre as well as doing scoring for films and TV.

Once On This Island runs now through February 20 at Broward Center’s Amaturo Theater with performances Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, Sunday Evenings at 6:30pm with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1pm. Zions Bank Broadway at the Eccles has announced a digital drawing for ANASTASIA tickets for performances February 15-20 in Salt Lake City at the Eccles Theater. A limited number of tickets will be available for every performance at $35.50 each. The drawing will first open at 12:00 NOON on Friday, February 4 and will close at 10:30 AM Friday, February 11 for tickets to performances February 15 – 20.

FSCJ Artist Series has announced upcoming events for its 55th Anniversary Season.

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, Encompass New Opera Theatre, The Board of Trustees and The Encompass Honorary Gala Chairs, Sheldon Harnick and Maury Yeston will pay tribute to Legendary Theatrical Icon and Tony Award-winning luminaries, CHITA RIVERA and DANNY BURSTEIN, with a star-studded musical salute.

Slow Burn Theatre Company and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts invite audiences to the Olivier Award-winning Once On This Island presented by American National Bank. The original production earned eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score, and the 2017 Production won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong, New Jersey will present its first Studio Series of the 40th season, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE JR.

Popejoy Presents and Haverland Carter Broadway in New Mexico announced today that individual tickets are still available for the tour of ANASTASIA opening Thursday, March 3 and running through Sunday evening March 6, 2022.

Dear Readers, some of you may remember the 1997 animated rendition of “Anastasia” that the current musical production at the Paramount is based on … loosely. We still have most of those lovely Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty songs from the animated version and the story is still about a young girl discovering that she is the lost Romanov daughter and trying to make her way to Paris to reunite with her grandmother. But don’t expect to see the magical immortal Rasputin as the villain or a wise cracking bat for comic relief. However, if you really wanted that animated version on stage, you may be in luck as many of the performances last night were inexplicably cartoonish in a show with a few memorable songs but a convoluted story that made little sense if you pay attention to it.

Classic Stage Company announced that the upcoming run of black odyssey, written by Marcus Gardley and directed by Stevie Walker-Webb, has been postponed. Originally set to begin performances in Winter 2022, black odyssey will now begin performances later this season at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater (136 East 13th Street,  NY, NY 10003).  

Broadway in Portland will present ANASTASIA at Keller Auditorium from February 8 – 13.

The Random Farms Kids' Theater will present Seussical at The Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, January 28 –30, 2022. 

The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math and more through clever, catchy tunes is lighting up the stage of Clarksville's oldest professional theatre this month.
