ABC Talent and Casting will present the 2019 ABC Discovers: New York Talent Showcase, TUESDAY, SEPT. 17, at the New World Stages – Stage 2, in New York City. Part of Walt Disney Television's ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for undiscovered talent, the showcase features selected participants performing in a one-night showcase for casting directors, talent agents, managers and other industry professionals. In addition, the selected showcase actors are awarded a one-year mentorship with executives from ABC Casting. As part of the mentorship, the showcase actors will be offered on-camera workshops specifically for them to further hone their craft and auditioning skills. Talent will also have access to various ABC executives.

Variety reports that HBO Max has ordered ten episodes of an upcoming adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's best-selling novel 'Americanah' from Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira. Nyong'o will star, with Gurira showrunning and writing the pilot. 

Today, E! announced the commencement of voting for the 2019 “E! People's Choice Awards,” celebrating all forms of entertainment, chosen entirely by the people.  Starting with the fan nomination week back in August, E! engaged fans worldwide to submit their favorites in the various categories. Thousands of fans attending D23 Expo this past weekend got an advance viewing of this special look at STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. 

The sequel to the hit film Black Panther is set to release on May 6, 2022, according to Variety. The news was revealed at D23 expo today, August 24.

Variety reports that upcoming spy thriller '355' will be released by Universal Pictures on January 14, 2021. Diane Kruger and Fan Bingbing also star.

The Apollo Theater announced today that critically acclaimed writer, artist and thinker Ta-Nehisi Coates will begin the national book tour for his latest work, The Water Dancer, at the world-famous Apollo stage. The program will take place on Monday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. with a special guest to be announced.
