ELECTRICIDAD Casting Announced

Artes de la Rosa today announced the casting of Luis Alfaro's ELECTRICIDAD which is receiving it's Regional Premiere this March at Artes de la Rosa's home The Rose Marine Theater. Playing the mother Clemencia is Artes de la Rosa veteran Danielle Reboli (Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof). Making her Rose Marine Theater stage debut playing Electricidad's reformed sister Ifgenia is Dallas Actress Raquel Lydia Leal.

Fanny Garcia is a co-founder of East LA Rep and currently works as the company's Literary Manager. She has written several plays including PORTRAIT OF TEN WOMEN, which chronicles the lives of Latina women living with HIV/AIDS. In 2010, her ten-minute play L'ULTIMO VIAGGIO was commissioned by Watts Village Theatre Company for their Meet Me @ Metro traveling theatre event and most recently her play THE ROSALILA received a workshop production directed by Luis Alfaro. She is also the founder and editor of pLAywriting in the city, a blog about plays and playwriting in Los Angeles. She is originally from Los Angeles, CA.

The Herb Alpert Foundation and California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) have awarded the 17th Alpert Award in the Arts to five exceptional mid-career artists. The award, an annual prize of $75,000, recognizes past performance and future promise to artists working in Dance, Film/Video, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts, the five major fields of investigation at CalArts.
