What did our critic think of HADESTOWN at Keller Auditorium?HADESTOWN, Anaïs Mitchell’s terrific Tony- and Grammy-winning musical now on national tour, urges us to have hope that if we can imagine a better world, we can create one…even if the odds (and the gods) are against us. 

Hadestown, the winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best New Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, comes to Portland's Keller Auditorium from July 19 – 24.

La Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México y el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (Inbal), mediante la Coordinación Nacional de Música y Ópera, presentarán la cantata escénica Catulli Carmina, de Carl Orff, con una puesta en escena que incluye a 26 cantantes, 20 bailarines y 11 músicos en dos funciones gratuitas: viernes 1 de julio a las 20:00 horas y domingo 3 a las 18:00 en el Teatro del Bosque Julio Castillo del Centro Cultural del Bosque. 

Hadestown, the winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best New Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will come to Seattle as part of the Premera Blue Cross Broadway at The Paramount Series.  The show will play The Paramount Theatre from July 12 – 17, 2022.

Schmidt Vocal Arts has announced that soprano Nicole DiPasquale (18) has won the top prize of $10,000 in the first national edition of the Schmidt Vocal Competition. Hailing from Tampa, Florida, DiPasquale has just graduated with a Cambridge international diploma from Bell Creek Academy High School. Second prize of $7,500 went to soprano Dalila Lugo (17) of Miami, Florida, and third prize of $5,000 to tenor Benjamin Riverón (17) of San Antonio, Texas.

Artisan Children's Theater will present DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. at its 150 seat Second Stage facility. The theater is located at 444 East Pipeline Road in Hurst.

The beloved Sing for Hope Pianos will return to 28 Liberty Plaza on Friday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with 10 artist-designed pianos for all to enjoy. This one-day-only special event is designed to encourage everyone, from professional musicians to novices and everyone in between, to exercise their musical creativity and share “pop-up” moments of spontaneous music-making and improvised harmony.

Uptown Players presents its 19th annual fundraiser Broadway Our Way '22. This year's production is written and directed by B.J. Cleveland, choreographed by Andrew Coopman with music direction by Kevin Gunter and Kelley Poche Rodriguez and musical arrangements by Adam C. Wright. Broadway Our Way will run June 9 - 12, at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. This year's event includes the return of two special guests, Emerson Collins and Black McIver

Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1938 three-act play OUR TOWN has a superb new iteration now performing at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, CA through June 4, 2022. Directed by Beth Lopes, the show employs a wonderfully diverse cast, as it re-stages its seemingly ordinary but ultimately impactful vignettes of everyday life.

Nicholas Barasch, who launched the North American Tour of Hadestown last fall in the role of Orpheus, will play his final performance at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, CA, on Sunday, June 12. Meet the new Orpheus here.

Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3’s production of AT THE WEDDING, a new play by Bryna Turner, directed by Jenna Worsham, returns tonight after a brief hiatus. The production will play an extended week of performances beginning tonight, Wednesday, May 18 at 7pm and run through this Sunday, May 23 at 7pm at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Broadway in Portland has announced that single tickets for Hadestown will go on sale to the public on Sunday, May 22.

Brooklyn-based nonprofit Photoville has announced Photoville NYC 2022 (June 4 - 26), marking the outdoor festival’s celebratory return to a summer format for the first time in 10 years, and filling all five of New York’s boroughs with expansive and vivid views of our world.

The Late Late Show with James Corden will feature a performance from the North American touring company of Hadestown airing Tuesday night, May 17, 2022, on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Check local listings for air times.

Premera Blue Cross Broadway at The Paramount has announced that single tickets for Hadestown will go on sale to the public on Monday, May 16 at 10am.

The Los Angeles engagement of 'Hadestown' opened this week at Center Theatre Group / Ahmanson Theatre.
