The weather may have forgotten that it's summer, but at BroadwayWorld we are still excited about what the theatre world has to offer. For those of you not lucky enough to be heading to Edinburgh, August in the capital has some brilliant theatre to look forward to.

In asking the persistent questions of how much of what we consider love, the personality, and even the soul is of our own making, and how much is just chemical, Mitchell Cushman’s searing production immediately gets under your skin, and it’s no placebo.

A Very Expensive Poison comes to the New Theatre in August. Performances run 15 August - 16 September 2023.

THE WINTER KING is based on Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles series. Produced by Sony Pictures Television-owned Bad Wolf, filming took place in Wales and the West Country.  Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, His Dark Materials) serves as lead director and executive producer, alongside Toby Leslie. Acclaimed theatre and film producer Patrick Daly and his production house Caledonia Productions (August: Osage County, UNA) has signed a first-look deal with Passenger, which is headed by its founder Richard Brown (This England, True Detective, Catch-22).

Looking for Giants is a new play that follows one young woman's quest for self-discovery as she attempts to separate fantasy from reality - then questions if she should even try when her fantasies are so much more alluring and exciting.

Concluding COAL MINE THEATRE’s buzzy first season in their new home at 2076 Danforth Avenue – award-winning director Mitchell Cushman returns to the east end to direct the Canadian premiere of UK writer Lucy Prebble’s Critics Circle award-winning THE EFFECT – on stage July 9 – 30 (Media night: July 13).

Nicole Scherzinger will star as Norma Desmond in a new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard. With book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, based on the Billy Wilder film, this bold new vision of the musical, directed by Jamie Lloyd, will play for a strictly limited 16 week run at the Savoy Theatre in the West End.
