Stratford East has announced the cast and creative team for this year's pantomime, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, with book and lyrics by Succession/Killing Eve writer Anna Jordan (she/her) and music and lyrics by Stratford East pantomime veteran Robert Hyman (he/him). It’s good fun, but the last half hour of the 90 interval-less minutes drags. The dissection of their personalities and attitudes towards society doesn’t really go anywhere, but it’s an amusing, hyperbolic, melodramatic cut-out of a pretentious dispute between well-off fantoccini made to detonate in a controlled environment.

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre has announced full casting for the revival of Yasmina Reza’s savagely dark comedy God of Carnage, in a translation by Christopher Hampton, which won both the Tony and Olivier Award for Best Comedy in 2009, as well as picking up Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Actress for Marcia Gay Harden.

Samson Hawkins’s play is great fun, but it’s a complex one. This good-hearted comedy cum moral whose identity is defined by precise British sit-com humour (with all the good and bad that comes with it) is threatened by a sense of inauthentic working class ideals. However, if we give in and welcome the satiric idyll of South Northamptonshire, we’ll find a collection of peculiar characters who keep edging and retreating from political incorrectness written with idiosyncratic flair.

Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren is headed back to Broadway to lead the American premiere of ROOM, written and adapted for the stage by Emma Donoghue, based on her 2010 best-selling novel which she also adapted into the award-winning 2015 film.

Like Wilde, Denzel Westley-Sanderson, winner of the RTST Sir Peter Hall Award for young directors, pushes boundaries and brings fresh ideas to the social comedy: an all-black cast, a drag queen as Lady Bracknell and a lesbian twist.

Rose Theatre's Artistic Director, Christopher Haydon, has announced the first Rose Productions in the 2022/23 Season, beginning on 9 September with the London premiere of Anthony McCarten's The Two Popes starring Anton Lesser and Nicholas Woodeson.

Adopted for the stage by Emma Donoghue, the writer of the novel, ROOM is a 2-act spectacle full of imaginative creative choices, heart wrenching performances, and original music.

Rehearsal images have been released for the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre’s 12th annual panto Aladdin, a magical new adaptation written by award-winning comedian, actor and composer Vikki Stone, directed by Abigail Graham, running at the West London venue from 19 November 2021 to 02 January 2022, with opening night on 27 November.

Qasim Mahmood plays Aladdin in this magical new adaptation by award-winning comedian, actor and composer Vikki Stone who returns to write her debut pantomime for the Lyric following critically acclaimed appearances as Abanazar in Aladdin in 2016 and Fleshcreep in Jack and the Beanstalk in 2017.

Martin Marquez has an extensive repertoire of stage work with the Donmar Warehouse, The National and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.  He most recently starred as Nathan Detroit in Sheffield Theatre's production of Guys & Dolls and in Josie Rourke's revival of Sweet Charity at the Donmar playing Vittorio Vidal. 

In Leopards, by rising playwright Alys Metcalf, Niala will be played by Saffron Coomber. Niamh Cusack will be reuniting with director Melly Still in the world premiere of Colin Teevan’s The Seven Pomegranate Seeds.
