Broadway Reacts To The IN THE HEIGHTS Movie Trailer

Lights up in Washington Heights! The trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony-winning musical In the Heights was just released, and the Broadway community is buzzing with excitement for Washington Heights coming to the big screen! Stage favorites including Lea Salonga, Karen Olivo, Josh Gad, Telly Leung, and more have taken to Twitter to express their emotions about the new trailer. Check out what they all had to say!

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell S. Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presented the fifteenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Angela Sclafani & Benjamin Velez. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, was presented by Kate Baldwin on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

Brandon Victor Dixon and Danny Hoch Join REBEL VERSES

Brandon Victor Dixon (NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar - Emmy nominee) and Danny Hoch (a?oeShe's Gotta Have Ita??)  join the list of guest artists for REBEL VERSES, a two-week festival of performances by some of the best youth companies in New York City and beyond. Vineyard Theatre and Developing Artists partner again to present Developing Artists' REBEL VERSES beginning performances Thursday, August 8 through August 17 at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street).   

Ari Afsar Will Perform Songs From Her New Musical JEANNETTE at SubCulture

Pop sensation and Hamilton alum Ari Afsar will present a live demo concert of her new musical Jeannette at SubCulture (45 Bleecker St) on Monday, July 29 at 7.30pm. Afsar will be joined by special guests Joshua Henry (Hamilton, Carousel), Lexi Lawson (Hamilton, In the Heights), and Jessica Vosk (Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof). An epic pop musical based on the true story of America's first congresswoman, Jeannette electrifies the life and history of suffrage activist Jeannette Rankin who was elected to Congress in 1916-three years before women were granted the right to vote.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presented "Broadway is 850 Strong," a benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Michael on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 9:30 pm. The Florida Panhandle was completely devastated by the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Michael. Michael was one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall in the United States. The Panhandle, which is area code 850, took a direct hit. Thousands of people lost their homes, schools and hospitals were destroyed, and area businesses were obliterated.
