BWW Interview: Johannes Glück of KRAWUTZI KAPUTZI at Vindobona

Krawutzi Kaputzi is getting closer to it's opening night. The cast and creatives are in the rehearsal process. During rehearsals, Johannes Gluck found some time to sit down and talk with us about the show and where it all started. Gluck is one of this rare diamonds in the business. He is not only a writer/composer, he is also a singer/actor and one of the finest comedians in the country. If you caught yourself asking, is there anything this guy can't do, relax, there is and he is totally honest about, „drumroll', it's dancing.

Prospect Presents Timothy Huang's New Musical, AMERICAN MORNING

Prospect Theater Company will present a workshop production  of Timothy Huang's award-winning original musical AMERICAN MORNING from May 8 - 19, 2019 Prospect Theater Company (Melissa Huber, Managing Director / Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director) is pleased to present a workshop staging of  American Morning, with book, music and lyrics by Timothy Huang, from May 8th through May 19th, 2019.  The production will be staged in the Mezzanine Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres.

Second Stage Theater has announced SOMMER CARBUCCIA, MATT DALLAL, JAKEIM HART, ERIKA HENNINGSEN, KENNEDY KENAGAWA, ALEC MATHIESON, SARAH NAUGHTON, GABRIELLA PEREZ, JONATHAN RAVIV, NATHAN SALSTONE and KYLE SELIG will perform SATURDAY NIGHT as a part of the special concert series, MUSICAL MONDAYS, in celebration of the acclaimed company's 40th anniversary. NOAH BRADY directs the performance on Monday, March 11th, featuring musical direction by ALEXANDER GEMIGNANI.

BMI Announces Musical Theatre Workshop Showcase

The BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop will present its top works at this year's showcase on Monday, April 1st at 3 PM and 6 PM. The shows will be held at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City (10 West 64th Street) and will premiere performances of the best of songs written and composed by recent members of this Drama League, Drama Desk and Tony honored workshop.   

American Theatre Wing Announces Recipients of 2019 Jonathan Larson Grants

The American Theatre Wing announced today that the 2019 Jonathan Larson Grants recipients are Julia Gytri & Avi Amon (book, music and lyrics), Emily Gardner Xu Hall (book, music and lyrics), Andy Roninson (music and lyrics), and Ben Wexler (music and lyrics). Four prestigious grants of $10,000 each, as well as additional support in the form of residencies, concerts, and recording grants, totaling over $50,000, will be presented on Monday, March 19, 2018 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

Transport Group Gala To Feature LaChanze, Mary Testa, Betsy Wolfe, and More

Transport Group has announced that its annual A Toast to the Artist gala will honor Tony Award-winning orchestrator Michael Starboin and composer Carmel Dean with the Transporting American Theatre Award. The evening takes place Monday, March 11 at 6:30pm at The Current, Pier 59 @ Chelsea Piers, and includes a cocktail party, seated dinner, performances, dessert reception, and silent and live auctions. The Transporting American Theatre Award recognizes significant contributions to the American Theatre. Past recipients of the Transporting American Theatre Award include Dick Scanlan, Mary- Mitchell Campbell, Michael John LaChiusa, Gretchen Shugart, Barbara Whitman, Beth Williams, Sue Frost, Christian Borle, Paul Huntley, Douglas Carter Beane, Lewis Flinn, A.R. Gurney, Liz Smith, Barbara Frietag, Terrence McNally, and Joe Mantello among others. Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased at transportgroup.org.

Eric Welch joins Theater RED as Artistic Associate following his collaboration with the company in June of 2018 for the Wisconsin premiere of I'LL EAT YOU LAST: A CHAT WITH SUE MENGERS. Eric Welch directed this one-woman comedic romp as a co-production with his theater company, Untitled Productions.

Steele Spring Stage Rights Acquires Rights to GOD SAVE QUEEN PAM, THE MUSICAL

Steele Spring Stage Rights, the licensing company that represents The Marvelous Wonderettes, has just acquired the licensing and theatrical performance rights to God Save Queen Pam, the off-Broadway musical comedy by Erin Murray Quinlan about a working-class girl from New Jersey, who by an accident of succession gets ripped from her barstool and is seated on the throne as the Queen of England.
