Larissa FastHorse, Ralph Lemon and More Announced as MacArthur 'Genius' Grant Winners

The MacArthur Foundation has announced the 21 'Genius' Grant winners for 2020, who are recognized for their contributions with a grant of $625,000. Among the winners is playwright Larissa FastHorse, who is focused on bringing Native American perspectives to theater, and is perhaps best known for 'The Thanksgiving Play.'

Producing Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven, Associate Artistic Director Talya Kingston, and the WAM Theatre team today announced their reimagined plans for WAM's fall 2020 season, offering digital productions in October and November. Today, American Conservatory Theater announced the lineup that will make up the 2020-21 season for the acclaimed Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program. Children's Theatre Company announced today updates to the 2020-2021 Season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. CTC will begin stage productions in March 2021 with its original production, Seedfolks, which will run for six weeks on the Cargill Stage from March 2 - April 11, 2021.
Guthrie Theater Receives MSAB Arts Access Grant & Joyce Foundation Award

The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) announced that it is the recipient of two funding awards: a Minnesota State Arts Board Arts Access grant to advance ongoing community collaboration and art-making with the local Native community and an award from The Joyce Foundation, which will allow the Guthrie to commission nationally recognized artists Larissa FastHorse and Ty Defoe of Indigenous Direction to create a new theater production that centers around Twin Cities Native stories, specifically that of the Dakota and Anishinaabe-Ojibwe people. Collectively, these two awards allow the Guthrie and the Twin Cities Native community to continue a journey of intentional partnership and collaboration that began three years ago.
Tickets For WAM Fall Mainstage Show ROE Now On Sale

WAM Theatre has announced that tickets go on sale Tuesday, March 3, for their fall Mainstage production of ROE by Lisa Loomer, directed by WAM Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven. The production will run September 24-October 11, 2020, presented at Shakespeare & Company's Tina Packer Playhouse in Lenox, MA.
