Marjorie Waldo, President & CEO of Arts Garage, today announced the nonprofit organization's 2024 theatre season—three thought-provoking, community driven, and socially relevant productions from professional, cutting-edge playwrights.

Cowboy, the story of Bass Reeves, will debut Off-Broadway this December. Reeves made history by being the first black U.S. Deputy Marshall in America.   This is the first full on western to hit a Broadway or Off-Broadway stage in over 80 years.

Cowboy, written and directed by Layon Gray, has been selected as a mainstage production at the 2022 National Black Theatre Festival in Winston Salem, NC.

The play, a fair and angry indictment of social injustice, asks a number of important questions, and the gorgeous cast, under the adept direction of Atlanta-favorite Tinashe Kajese Bolden and Keith Arthur Bolden, and with help from an incredibly able design team, brings the indictment to powerful life.

Asolo Rep proudly kicks off its 60th season with a highly imaginative production of Meredith Willson's Tony Award-winning exuberant masterpiece THE MUSIC MAN. Directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), this tap dancing-infused production stars legendary Broadway song and dance man Noah Racey as Harold Hill. Calhoun and Racey previously collaborated on the smash hit world premiere of Noah Racey's Pulse at Asolo Rep in 2013. The perfect family holiday outing, THE MUSIC MAN begins previews on November 13, opens November 17 and runs through December 29 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

TenthPlanet: Planet Connections 10th Annual Theatre Festivity played to packed houses and great acclaim for each production. Another sold out house was achieved for the company's annual 'Playwrights for a Cause' event, this year, benefiting the Ali Forney Center. The banner season culminates with the Planet Awards. 'Back 2 Broadway" shares the experience of one young man's journey, as he strives to live out his dreams of becoming a celebrated Broadway star. In this sequel to their 2017 performance, "Broadway Our Way," the protagonist must overcome his doubts and fears as he travels to Brooklyn's historic Kings Theatre to compete in a talent show for the coveted winning prize: A chance to sign a deal with one of the best agencies in the business. The full scripted musical, written and directed by Purelements Co-Artistic Director, Lakai Worrell, is a mashup of modern, West African, tap, jazz and hip-hop dance and songs performed by Purelements' Center of Artistic Refinement (COAR) program. Plus, special performances by guest actor, dancer, singer, Lamar K. Cheston and actresses Ramona Dunlap and Jaleesa Capri.
