Regional Theatre and Vicky Vox Take Centre Stage at the WhatsOnStage Awards

We've had the film, TV and music awards, so now it's the theatre's turn to hand out some prizes. Once again, the Prince of Wales Theatre threw open its doors to some of the most popular productions from the past 12 months, as the WhatsOnStage Awards took place on Sunday evening - the only awards ceremony that hands over all of its voting duties to the public.

At a ceremony tonight at the Prince of Wales Theatre hosted by Vicky Vox and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, the winners of the 19th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards were announced - the only major theatre awards decided entirely by the theatregoers themselves.
National Theatre Announces New Exhibition THEATRE TREASURES

Celebrating 25 years of the National Theatre Archive, this exhibition reveals some of the treasures of the collection. Theatre-makers, playwrights and researchers were invited to choose an object which inspires them from the Archive. Participants included theatre critic Michael Billington, directors Simon Godwin and Emily Lim, playwright and director Patrick Marber and actor Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. Their responses sit alongside the objects in the exhibition.

WhatsOnStage today announce that Vicky Vox and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith will present the 19th annual WhatsOnStage Awards on 3 March 2019 at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Both hosts are nominated at this year's event - Vox for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her performance in Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's Little Shop of Horrors; and Holdbrook-Smith for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as Ike Turner in Tina - The Tina Turner Musical at the Aldwych Theatre.

Britbox, From BBC Studios And ITV Announces Next Original Series DARK HEART

BritBox, the streaming service from BBC Studios and ITV with the largest collection of British TV in the U.S., announced today during its TCA presentation an expanded commitment to delivering the best of British TV's past, present and future. Leading off the announcements was the reveal of the service's next new original series - Dark Heart, a TV adaptation of popular literary series featuring Detective Will Wagstaffe, played by Tom Riley (Da Vinci's Demons) and also starring Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) and brought to you by the creators of Vera & Shetland. In addition, BritBox will add content from some of the biggest actors and creators from across the Atlantic including the exclusive premiere of the heartbreaking five time BAFTA Award winning drama mini-series Three Girls from director Philippa Lowthrope (The Crown) and writer Nicole Taylor (The C Word), Bancroft featuring Sarah Parish (Broadchurch) and and Shakespeare & Hathaway which was the biggest drama launch for a BBC daytime series in the last five years.

Could Tina Turner be the next diva to hit the Great White Way? Donna Summer has found a place on Broadway and joining her soon will be Cher in the upcoming musical The Cher Show. The New York Post seems to think that Tina could be next.
