Palm Beach Dramaworks, the West Palm Beach theater which won the most Carbonell Awards of any theater in 2018, is now the most-nominated theater for 2019.

PRIMARY STAGES presents The Confession of Lily Dare, written by and starring Charles Busch (The Tribute Artist, You Should Be So Lucky) and directed by Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, The Tribute Artist). Performances began at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) on January 11, 2020, with opening night set for January 29, for a limited run through March 5, 2020.

Winner of four Tony Awards, including best choreography, this loving tribute to the Oscar winning film finds an American soldier and a mysterious French woman in Paris, looking to begin again after World War II.

Filled with the music of legendary composers George and Ira Gershwin, the Tony Award-winning masterpiece, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, is dancing its way to a city near you. Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, the Pulitzer Prize-winner that is on virtually every critic's short list of greatest American plays, opens Palm Beach Dramaworks' 2019-2020 season on Friday, October 11 (8pm) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. It's October 4, 1965, and Pope Paul VI is spending 14 hours in New York City, marking the first visit by a reigning pope to the United States. Millions line the streets to greet him and zookeeper Artie Shaughnessy, a wannabe Hollywood songwriter with big dreams and no discernible talent, joins the throngs in the hope that a papal blessing will help propel him out of Queens, away from his mentally ill wife, Bananas, and into a new life in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Bunny Flingus.

Michael Rader, Producing Artistic Director of The Cape Playhouse, today announced the creative teams for the 2019 summer season. The six-play season features three plays and three musicals- and includes directors Hunter Foster, Marcia Milgrom Dodge, Matt Lenz, Joyce Chittick and more.

A play within a play, The Play that Goes Wrong is the tale of the Cornley University Drama Society which, despite several earlier snags, is opening their 1920s murder mystery, The Murder at Haversham Manor. In the moments just before the show opens, an audience member is recruited to help the tech crew (Ryan George as Trevor Watson and Ka-Ling Cheung as Annie Twilloil) mend a few set issues. No biggie, though. It's just a broken mantlepiece that holds several key props. And a main entrance from backstage with a door that won't stay closed. Or open. Or closed. There are a couple of floor planks that need to be nailed in, still. And there's a missing Duran Duran CD somewhere in the theatre. Oh, and a missing dog. What could possibly go wrong? Right?

OMG! Based on the 2001 film, Legally Blonde-The Musical is a journey from the sorority house to the halls of justice. Elle Woods appears to have it all, until her boyfriend dumps her to attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her ingenuity and charm to get into Harvard too, tackling stereotypes, snobbery and scandal along the way. Legally Blonde-The Musical is "a high-energy… hymn to the glories of girlishness" (New York Times).

A full-scale calamity is about to ensue at The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. The Play That Goes Wrong - a masterpiece of theatrical mass-destruction, has thrilled audiences on Broadway and London's West End. Now it makes its American regional theatre debut, as The Rep becomes the first U.S. theatre to self-produce the show outside of New York City.
