Theatre Arlington held its 45th Annual Stony Awards at 6:30pm on Sunday, September 24th, 2018, honoring actors, designers, directors, volunteers and community partners for excellence in the productions during the 2017-2018 45th anniversary season. Guests gathered at the theater for drinks before the show and were then treated to a fun, light-hearted show with Interim Executive Producer, Steven D. Morris serving as the Master of Ceremonies and Don Powers on the piano, with entertainment by some of Theatre Arlington's favorite performers: Nik Blocker, Dawn Prejean, Tevin Cates, Donovan Lawson, Emily-Kate Ivey, Daniel Hernandez and Ashlyn Nichols. Plus, an unexpected surprise visit by Spiderman! Afterwards, all gathered in the lobby for more celebrating with drinks and a reception, sponsored in part by Cooper Street Bakery.

Main Street is sizzling with the opening production of Theatre Arlington's 46th season, 9 to 5 The Musical. This witty and delightful musical is based on the 1980 hit movie, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, one of the original screenwriters. The unlikeliest of friends, Violet, Judy and Doralee, combine forces to take control of their company and their egotistical boss, intent on keeping them and every other woman "in their place." As their plan spins wildly out of control, these women unite to seek their sweet revenge, but in so doing - shatter the stereotypes and find true friendship, independence and prove there is nothing they can't do. What a way to make a living!

It is the last home stand of Theatre Arlington's 45th Anniversary Season and they are bringing it on home with Rebecca Gilman's The Sweetest Swing in Baseball.  The quirky comedy centers on successful artist Dana Fielding whose latest gallery opening does not hit a home run with the critics. Combine that self-doubt with the departure of her boyfriend, she attempts suicide and ends up in a mental institution. It is there that she finds solace in the structured days with a couple of unlikely teammates - a psychopath and an alcoholic. But when her insurance company will only pay for ten days, they cook up a scheme to outplay the health care system. Without knowing much about him, Dana takes on the personality of the bad boy of baseball, Darryl Strawberry, who also struggled with the darker side of fame, rejection by the fans. Gilman's play reflects on how we measure success and failure, our own identity and being who you want to be.

Chicken Salad Chick, the nation's only southern inspired, fast casual chicken salad restaurant concept, is kicking off Mother's Day with a weekend of festivities to recognize the selfless nature and unconditional love that moms everywhere give to their families on a daily basis. Theatre Arlington's 45th Anniversary Season is ready to cut loose...footloose that is, with the production of Footloose the Musical, opening on May 11th. The stage adaptation by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie is based on Pitchford's original screenplay.

The Almighty is back, and he's ready to kick butt and take names, in David Javerbaum's An Act of God, a hilarious, no holds barred, irreverent and critically-acclaimed new play beginning a 5-week area premiere run at Fort Worth's Stage West on Thursday, November 30, starring local favorite B. With the 20th Annual Long Island International Film Expo wrapping Thursday Night after an amazing week that saw 168 short and feature-length films of every genre showcased, LIIFE presented its Closing Night Awards Ceremony at the historic Bellmore Movies where celebs from both Stage and Screen presented honors to those in the film industry for their hard work.

After an exciting week of short and feature-length independent films from around the world premiering at the Long Island International Film Expo, the 20th Annual festival will go out with a bang as they present their Closing Night Awards Ceremony Thursday, July 20th at the historic Bellmore Movies (222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY 11710) from 7:00PM to 9:00PM (RED CARPET BEGINS AT 5:00PM)!

The Firehouse Theatre (2016 BWW Award for Best Theatrical Venue under 500 Seats) in Farmers Branch, TX, unveils their big summer musical of Pippin, by Steven Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson. Pippin was originally directed for the Broadway stage in 1972 by Bob Fosse, and the 2013 Broadway revival earned 4 Tony awards including Best Musical Revival. The Firehouse Theatre will present their summer musical in a Big Top Circus presentation, similar to the style of the Broadway Revival production, including aerial performers, magic tricks, and death defying acts!
