Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian and Tom Wirtshafter, the producers of Tribes by Nina Raine, announced today the acclaimed Off-Broadway hit play has officially recouped its entire investment. Tribes began performances February 16, 2012 and opened to rave reviews on March 4, 2012 at The Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street) where it will give its final performance January 6, 2013.

Classic Stage Company opens Anton Chekhov's Ivanov today, Sunday, November 11. Directed by Austin Pendleton, Ivanov stars Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance. The cast also features Glenn Fitzgerald, Annette Hunt, Stephanie Janssen, Roberta Maxwell, George Morfogen, James Patrick Nelson, Anthony Newfield, Austin Pendleton, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Anne Troupe. Ivanov will play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 9.

The producers and company of the acclaimed Off-Broadway hit play Tribes welcome the return of Nick Westrate, winner of a 2012 Special Drama Desk Award for his versatility in the 2011-2012 season (Unnatural Acts, Love's Labor's Lost, and Galileo), who will assume the role of Daniel beginning Monday, November 19, 2012 at The Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street). Will Brill, who originated the role, will give his final performance Sunday, November 18, 2012.

Casting is complete for Steppenwolf Theatre Company's upcoming production of Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party, under the direction of ensemble member Austin Pendleton. Ensemble member Kevin Anderson joins the previously announced cast: ensemble members Ian Barford, Francis Guinan, Moira Harris and John Mahoney with Sophia Sinise. The Birthday Party begins performances January 24, 2013 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Opening night is February 3, 2013; press performances are February 2 at 3pm and February 5 at 7:30pm. Tickets ($20 - $78) go on sale at a later date.

Classic Stage Company announced today that the official opening of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV has shifted to this Sunday, November 11 (from the recently announced date of November 15). The change comes following the just-announced postponement of the opening night of GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS on Broadway.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that the official opening of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV has been postponed from this Sunday, November 4 to Thursday, November 15 due to the continuing power outage at the theater at 136 East 13th Street, which has forced the cancellation of five previews. Directed by Austin Pendleton, IVANOV stars Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance. The cast also features Glenn Fitzgerald, Annette Hunt, Stephanie Janssen, Roberta Maxwell, George Morfogen, James Patrick Nelson, Anthony Newfield, Austin Pendleton, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Anne Troupe. IVANOV will play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 9.

Austin Pendleton will step into the role of Lebedev beginning Friday, October 26 in his production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV at Classic Stage Company (135 East 13th Street) replacing veteran actor Louis Zorich, who has withdrawn due to a foot injury. Pendleton performed the role of Lebedev in a 1990 production at Yale Repertory. IVANOV, which stars Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, and is directed by Pendleton, is currently in previews, prior to an official opening Sunday, November 4. The cast also features Glenn Fitzgerald, Annette Hunt, Stephanie Janssen, Roberta Maxwell, George Morfogen, James Patrick Nelson, Anthony Newfield, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Anne Troupe. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that the world premiere of Through the Yellow Hour, written and directed by Adam Rapp, will extend through Saturday, November 10, at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place-off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry and West 11 Streets.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Adam Rapp's Through The Yellow Hour is that the playwright/director has intentionally written a piece that will never be performed with a completely age-appropriate cast – at least not legally in this country – since it includes a fully nude, sexually suggestive scene between a thirty-year-old character and another who is fourteen.  But because the person playing the youth is obviously of age, the scene is likely to leave audience members thinking of the older character as someone who has learned to trust and be caring again, rather than as someone committing statutory rape.

As previously announced, Academy Award nominee Diane Lane portrays Alexandra del Lago, an aging Hollywood screen siren on a journey with an unlikely soul mate, Chance Wayne (Broadway's Finn Wittrock)-an ineffectual drifter whose youth and promise have begun to fade.

The Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 118 Equity productions offered by 55 producing organizations. From these openings, 96 productions were 'Jeff Recommended,' which made them eligible for award nominations.
