Outside New York City, it is Connecticut that has almost an embarrassment of riches when it comes to theater. Forty years ago, a group of actors, writers and directors, including Keir Dullea and his late wife Susie Fuller, founded Theatre Artists Workshop as a place where they could experiment and cultivate new works, hone their skills, and work with their peers in a place that is safe from the glare of the public spotlight.
Summer Movies At Sarasota Opera House To Begin May 12, 2023

Sarasota Opera has announced the lineup for the 2023 Summer Classic Movies at the Opera House. The Classic Movies at the Opera House series featuring many beloved movies will open on Friday, May 12th at 7:30 pm with 2001: A Space Odyssey. Throughout the summer and into the fall, featured movies will include films ranging from the 1930's to the 1990's. Tickets will be $12 and will go on sale starting on Wednesday, May 3. Additional movie titles are detailed below.
Westport Country Playhouse Marks 90th Anniversary On June 29

Ninety years ago on June 29, 1931, Westport Country Playhouse opened its doors to its very first stage production. This year, on the exact same day, the Playhouse will mark its 90th anniversary with the opening of the virtual production, “Tiny House,” written by Michael Gotch, and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. The regional premiere of the timely comedy about escaping urban life in an isolated mountain paradise will stream on demand from Tuesday, June 29 through Sunday, July 18.

Calling all horror enthusiasts! Sony Movie Channel will showcase rarely-shown horror films, mostly from the '70s, with double features played twice every night beginning at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, October 25 through Wednesday, October 30. A Halloween marathon will air Thursday, October 31 between 9 a.m. and 2 a.m.

Piano sensation Yuja Wang, known worldwide for her artistry and electric performances, is coming to the Greater Bridgeport Symphony for All Of You On The Good Earth on Saturday, December 8 at the Klein. “This is the biggest cultural event to come to our region in recent years!” said GBS President Jean Moffitt. “We've been hoping for this for a long time,” adds GBS Conductor Eric Jacobsen, “and now the dream is coming true. The orchestra is so excited to have this incredible artist with us.”

The Theatre Artists Workshop in Norwalk will present a staged reading of the Broadway hit 'God of Carnage' by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, on November 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and November 18 at 3 p.m. Theatre Artists Workshop is located at 5 Gregory Boulevard in Norwalk.
