New York cabaret is back and in many ways, it is better than ever. We can take pride in a community that is stronger, more supportive, and more diverse than it has ever been. There is, of course, much to do still, but we are on a path that may lead us toward a second “golden age” of New York cabaret that could rival the 1980s. The signs are all around us. Not only have most of our cabaret rooms survived the pandemic, but we have also seen the birth of new spaces this year. There is more crossover between Broadway and cabaret than we have seen in decades, and thanks to social media, there are more new artists on the scene as well. Even with all the pandemic woes, as Jerry Herman would say “the best of times is now. As for tomorrow, well, who knows…who knows…who knows?”

he grew up “broke,” married “rich,” and divorced faster than she could say tax bracket – from Walmart to Neiman's and back again. Having tried the Cinderella in need of saving route, and failed, Robards attempts to find worthiness and salvation in a stupid world through something other than money. Is that even possible in this age of status and consumerism?

Randy Rainbow is channeling his inner Judy Garland in his latest song parody, which takes aim at Missouri senator Josh Hawley. He sings: 'Clang, Clang, Clang Went Josh Hawley! Yap, yap, yap went Ted Cruz. Crap, crap, crap went McCarthy, 'cause his party continued to lose.'

In Randy Rainbow's latest parody, he gets the song up to date with lyrics about US senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham. 'Kansas City' might be a song from Oklahoma! about a place in Missouri, but today it's all about Texas and South Carolina.
