James Clements is an artist of many talents, fearlessly tackling the issues through art. His latest piece, developed with Sophia Frank, is MEDEA/BRITNEY. We took a moment to speak with Clements about the upcoming show, see what he had to say about how it's all coming together!
MEDEA/BRITNEY To Be Re-Imagined At ClubFringe

James Clements and Sophia Frank have announced that they are remoutning their multi-media performance project, MEDEA/BRITNEY, four years on from its public debut in 2015. Clements and Frank will return as Co-Producers on the project, along with Pablo Calderón-Santiago. Clements will re-imagine the show as both writer and director, along with his co-creator, Frank, who will once again play the two titular characters. Filmmaker, photographer and performer Calderón-Santiago will design all technical and production elements. The re-imagining of MEDEA/BRITNEY will be presented as a Mainstage Production as part of FringeClub at the Nuyorican Poets Café, 236 E 3rd St, New York, NY 10009. Performances will take place on October 14th-16th at 7.45pm. FringeClub is part of the New York City Fringe's 2019 BYOV festival. Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks.

Playwright Lynn Nottage matters. Winner of a MacArthur 'genius' grant, she's also been named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine in 2019. She's the only woman to win two Pulitzer Prizes for drama (for RUINED in 2009 and SWEAT in 2017). Nottage calls FLOYD'S her 'side hustle' to SWEAT. Commissioned by the Guthrie, it had its world premiere there this past weekend.

Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's Pay What You Want theatre company, has announced the first production of its 10th Anniversary season, the Los Angeles premiere of Samsara by Lauren Yee, directed by Rebecca Wear. There will be one preview performance on Friday, May 10, at 8:30pm, and opening is set for Saturday, May 11, at 8:30pm. Samsara will play through June 1 at the Met Theatre in Los Angeles.

Jason Robert Brown's landmark musical Songs for a New World (New York City Center 2018 Encores! Off-Center Cast Recording) is released today, Friday, January 25, in streaming and digital formats, in addition to a two-CD set. This is the show's first recording since the world premiere album over 20 years ago. The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents) has published the fourth in a series of reports authored by Martha Wade Steketee with Judy Binus, on the status of women employed in New York City theaters. The fourth report, Women Count: Women Hired Off Broadway, available at theatrewomen.org/women-count/, analyzes employment in 13 professional roles - playwrights, directors, designers, stage managers, and others - in 515 Off- and Off-Off-Broadway productions by 22 theater companies for 5 complete seasons, 2013-14 through 2017-18 to show where women are and are not being hired.

What Will The Neighbors Say? is excited to announce the creative team for the workshop production of Founding Co-Artistic Director James Clements' latest play, Beauty Freak: Leni Riefenstahl's 'Olympia,' this November. The production will officially inaugurate the company's 2018-2019 season at the Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City, following a week long development workshop in the space.
