The Keegan Theatre is presenting a moving and sensitive production of composer William Finn’s Elegies: A Song Cycle.  This is a work of disarming autobiographical elements that underscore Finn’s alternately quirky and elegiac lyrics.  Finn’s music is shot through with a sense of longing and pain abetted with a sense of holding on to whatever one can grasp at in times of despair and loss.  

The Keegan Theatre has announced the cast and creative team of Elegies: A Song Cycle, a celebration of life and music penned by Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist William Finn (Falsettos, A New Brain, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee).

Creative Cauldron’s production of Sondheim’s Into the Woods, directed by Matt Conner with music direction by Elisa Rosman, concocts a magical musical within the constraints of a small theatre space.

On Friday, November 27th, Patrick Flynn (creator of The Original Cast and DC-based playwright) & Beth Amann (Managing Director of Monumental Theatre Company) will release the new podcast, What is Love Actually? 

While short-lived on Broadway, Keegan Theatre's regional premiere of Hands on a Hardbody, directed by Elena Velasco and Mark A. Rhea, proves this musical is on its way to becoming a cult classic.

The Keegan Theatre continues its 22nd season with the announcement of the cast and creative team for the regional premiere of the musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY. Inspired by the true events of the acclaimed 1997 documentary of the same name, HANDS ON A HARDBODY features a catchy combination of blues, rhythm & blues, and country songs co-written by Amanda Green and Trey Anastasio of the band Phish. Keegan's production is co-directed by Elena Velasco and Mark A. Rhea with music direction by Jake Null and choreography by Elena Velasco. The show runs March 9 through April 6, 2019 at The Andrew Keegan Theatre in Washington, DC, with the press opening slated for Tuesday, March 12 at 8:00 p.m.

NextStop Theatre's production takes up the meta to another level by casting real-life friends as the actors in the show and allowing them to be co-directors. Most theatre about theatre can easily lose audiences but, NextStop's [title of show] is overall accessible and relatable to a wider audience through its characters and humor.

"Other Life Forms" is an insightful, comedic look into our own humanity. It explores what makes us uniquely human - love, friendship, and our own quest for answers about our lives and the universe.

NextStop Theatre's production of Urinetown is a musical that is certainly worth the wait in line…even if you have to hold your bladder.

The Keegan Theatre presents PARADE, the Tony Award-winning musical by acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry and composer Jason Robert Brown. PARADE is a stirring musical about a miscarriage of justice in early 20th-century Georgia, when a Jewish outsider was wrongly accused of murder. A love story emerges thanks to the strength, passion and loyalty of Leo's wife, Lucille. PARADE runs March 11, 2017, through April 8, 2017, at The Keegan Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Each holiday season, NextStop Theatre Company produces a community outreach show featuring a cast of local students who are given the opportunity to work alongside actors, directors, and designers from NextStop's professional company.

The Broadway composer Cy Coleman is completely underrated. His range of musicals stretch from traditional musical (Little Me) to 60's pop (Sweet Charity) to comic operetta (On The Twentieth Century). His greatest triumph is the hard jazz / film noire musical City of Angels. On Saturday night, the DC area professional premier opened at NextStop Theatre in Herndon, Virginia.
