Berkeley Rep Extends Avett Brothers Musical SWEPT AWAY

Due to overwhelming demand from enthusiastic theatregoers in 42 states, Berkeley Rep has announced that the world premiere musical Swept Away will extend for an additional two weeks. Previews begin on Sunday, January 9 with the show originally scheduled to close on February 13.

Deffner previously worked as the Senior Director of Operations and Education for The California Symphony in Walnut Creek, where she served as an organizational leader for concert operations, artistic administration, program development, strategic partnerships, education programming, and general operations.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced a one-time $75,000 grant from The Bernard Osher Foundation in support of the theatre’s Rep-On Air series of virtual programming. The Bernard Osher Foundation has been a major funder of the arts in Bay Area for decades, and has included support for Berkeley Rep each year since 1993.

On Tuesday, October 13, Berkeley Repertory Theatre debuted their audio adaptation of the Sinclair Lewis classic It Can't Happen Here to great success. The production, streamed as a radio play via the theatre's YouTube Channel, attracted over 15,000 total households during a one-week period, surpassing expectations.
